I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years and have wanted to get married for a really long time. After a lot of pestering he finally proposed to me in February and gave me my ring last week. I then discussed with him the possibility of setting a date for 2009 which seems agreeable and realistic but he doesn't seem keen and asks me what the big hurry is. I really do love him but is it really fair to make me wait longer. Does he really have true intentions with me? What do you think?

My fiance and I have decided that we wanted an all adult reception. However, his cousin from out of town just had a baby and we are letting them bring her. She is not very old and we have never seen her. Is it wrong for us to make one exception? After all it is our wedding.

I am looking to have a destination wedding. I don't want it to be anywhere that people need passports, so it has to be in the US, USVI, or PR. I prefer not PR though. Any ideas? I really would like to hear from someone who had experience with this. If you have can you make recommendations, tell me about cost, how your guests enjoyed it, etc. Thanks.

It's not a 2 carat platinum like I hoped for.. he got me a one carat white gold ring. I hope he doesn't do this with the wedding ring. You know how embarassed I'll be? Should I tell him or exchange it for something else on my own?

I have short, dark, cropped pixie hair, my wedding is VERY informal and relaxed, registry office followed by a party at my sister in law's home. I've tried fascinators but they look too Moulin Rouge for me, and I want to wear SOMETHING, I'm just at a loss what to do, my hair looks better short so growing it is NOT an option, besides, I've only got 2 months to go.

My fiance and I are getting married in about six months. We are doing a destination wedding and only immediately family will attend. My parents bought us a washer/dryer for wedding gift and are paying for the ceremony (which is only $250) and they are paying for half the cost of our rooms for the honeymoon. My fiance's parents (who are of the same income bracket as my parents) have not offered to help with anything at all, and we are well into the planning stages. I do not think they are going to help and that hurts my fiance's feelings. It all goes back to a story from his past. WHen he was in high school, he wanted to take a girl to thr prom, but had just recently gotten a job. He wanted his parents to help with his tux rental, and they said "no." So what should I do? Do I have the right to be upset? I am really trying to downplay it--as I do not want my fiance to feel any worse about it because of something I say. Thanks for reading!

I found and tried on a gorgeous dress yesterday and no problem with the backless aspect of it...it's a very sexy (yet tasteful) dress. My friend who was there with me said not many people could pull it off, but i did....
The reason I ask this now, is that i just read something about maybe a backless dress isn't appropriate ????
I'm not conservative, it's not a religious wedding. Just thought i'd get some opinions!

My father is an alcoholic, and on top of that, is wheel-chair ridden because of a series of strokes. I love him to death, and my mother is deceased, but with his issues of alcohol abuse (and since alcohol is being served at the reception), and his mental instability, should I have my father at my wedding? He can't get measured for a tux, he can't drive himself to the wedding, and would need a babysitter.

I also don't want to look like a complete b**** by not having him there, or going up to the staff at the reception hall and tell them, "Hey, you see that guy over there?? Don't serve him any alcohol!"

My brother said he would take him to the wedding, but, my brother's in the wedding party and it would be inconvenient for him to bring him and then have to take him back home immediately after the ceremony.

My father has disowned his side of the family and isn't on good terms with my mother's side.

What do you think? Can you think of any compromises?

Thanks for the help!

I think the one thing I would have changed was making sure there was music at mine. We got married out in a natural setting, but I wish we had at least had a portable stereo for the music. Also our video camera really didn`t pick up the sound all that well (my brother`s wedding too). I probably would have had a microphone attached to the camera audio or at least had the camera closer to the minister.

I am getting my fiance's wedding band engraved without him knowing. He is going to be gone until 2 weeks before the wedding... should I go ahead and engrave my wedding band also with the same saying? It's "Amor Vincit Omnia" which is "Love Conquers All" in Latin. Or should I leave mine alone and let him decide on what to do. Because we can always have mine engraved after the wedding.

My (almost 3 year old) daughter was the flower girl in my brother`s wedding last week and everyone thought she was adorable..we tried to teach her to drop the pedals, but she ended up picking them up instead! Other than that (and it was really more cute than anything), I thought she did an excellent job. She didn`t scream or cry for one thing. Some of my relatives complained that she was "stealing the show" and distracting everyone from the wedding vows as she kept accidentaly dropping the pedals and picking them up again. I left her alone, as she was being quiet and at least had something to do to keep her busy! My aunt told me I should have gone up there and snatched her out of the spotlight. My brother and SIL really didn`t even notice. Wouldn`t it have even been more distracting for me to snatch her away (probalby would have really made her kick and scream!)?

I'm sorry, I know I will get yelled at for this one by all those of you who have gotten 'promise rings' but to me they are BS! I mean if you are in high school or even in college a promise ring is cool but once you are an adult...say late 20's, early 30's, promise rings are a waste of money. Give me an engagement ring...fk a promise. Promise to marry me...someday....LMAO! I don't think so. Does anyone agree that promise rings are for puppy love? To me, it doesn't make sense to give a promise ring to someone you been in a relationship for 7 years and are going into your 30's and have kids together. Is this just a way for the men to keep the women happy and quiet? Trick her into thinking you are going to marry her with some promise ring? "Yes, I love you but instead of an engagement ring, I'm giving you this promise ring so that you know that I promise to one day marry you" HA HA! BTW ~ I am not the one who got a promise ring, a few of my friends have gotten them.

ok so my only sister is getting married in April of 2008 and I am in the wedding with two of her other friends. We went to try on dresses and the woman asked us who the maid of honor was and we didnt know. We werent sure if it was going to be me or her friend. so i tried to talk to my mom about it and she told me it was a big responsibility. I am only almost 16 so I will not be able to plan the bachalorette party but I can plan a lot of the other stuff with the possible help of the other bridesmaids. So If you were my sister who would you choose your only sister who is 16 or your friend??

My fienace and I are not planning on registering, we already have what we need for a home. What we really need is money to help us get started and off set the cost of the wedding (we are paying for it). Is there any polite way to ask for money?

I havent been close to my father. In fact he wasnt around at all through childhood. We are now sort of close now and we work together. He is going to walk me down the aisle at my my wedding and everything as well. The only thing is I can not seem to find a song that would really fit us for the father daughter dance. Does anyone have any song ideas?
