How long have you lived at this place? if not long, then perhaps it belongs to the tenants before you...or have you had guests recently perhaps it belongs to one of them. If you do put an ad in the paper be vague about the item you found and if someone calls ask them to describe it..otherwise it will be tough to figure out if someone is being honest. Good luck and I commend your integrity.

Does it seem new or old? I would put something in the paper about it yes...but make sure that who ever claims it can answer questions like where did you last have it on, what does it look like, what size is it, how many karats of gold does it have.....etc etc..just to make sure that it is theirs and that they are not just claiming it as their own..if no one claims it, then pawn it....but I do not think that you will get much out of it....maybe 25 dollars at the most...Kimmie
PS seriously my hubby has lost two wedding bands now in our 8 yrs of marriage...once when he was working on his car and left it on the side of the inner hood...forgot it was there, shut the hood to take the car for a drive and then on his way home, he remembered that he left his ring in the frigging inner hood...I bought him another on our anniversary and lost that one when we went to the lake....I bought him one more on his birthday and said that I was not going to buy him another one if he lost this one....needless to say, he still has it....and is a bit more cautious where he has left it when he takes it off....

You could ask your neigbors who a close enough to throw a ring into your garden in the heat of a fight. Or it belongs to the previous owners or tenants, or someone who worked in the yard before.
If you do advertise you may get many people claiming it to be theirs who are not the owner. I would ask your closest neigbors and if you can the previous resident.

See if the previous owners lost a ring, or if they had a gardener that lost a ring. I'm sure it would be easy to find out who's it is.

We have been given his from a close-by jeweller--inner maximum keep, not a sequence keep. they have been in company for a protracted time, and he bought my engagement ring there, additionally. His ring is titanium and is cost us $one 0 five. We weren't finding for a miles less costly ring, merely one he had to placed on for an entire life-it merely became out the hoop replaced into particularly much less costly.

OF COURSE you should advertise - some papers will do it free for found items.

If you don't like any of the other ideas suggested to you then maybe you could take it to your local police station & if no-one claims it within 3 months it's yours.
