I am getting my fiance's wedding band engraved without him knowing. He is going to be gone until 2 weeks before the wedding... should I go ahead and engrave my wedding band also with the same saying? It's "Amor Vincit Omnia" which is "Love Conquers All" in Latin. Or should I leave mine alone and let him decide on what to do. Because we can always have mine engraved after the wedding.

Leav eit alone don't make him think that you didn't enjoy it and that you had to add your little touch to make it perfect. Do it after the wedding

The engraving is usually a special message from your fiancee to you. Like you said you can always have that put on after the wedding.

Get it engraved afterwards if he doesn't have anything in mind and you really want it. This way he still has his chance to do his own. It would suck if he had been thinking up special things to put and found it was already engraved. Think of it as him writing you a love letter and when he hands it you pull one out of your pocket and say "no thanks, already got it taken care of"

I think it depends on whether he is the creative type and would come up with something to have engraved. In the end, when it comes to this sort of thing, a lot of men would say, "I'll do whatever your doing" It also depends on how much you like the idea and think he would like the idea of having the same inscription on both. But if you just can't decide, as you said, you can just wait to have yours done until after the wedding.

That is such a sweet, personal thing to do and you are very lucky to have such a bond with your groom to be. I think the decision to engrave your own ring depends on his personality. If it's something that you think he would enjoying doing on his on and be creative with it, then let him do it. otherwise, you may want to do it to yours as well. it also depends on if you want them to be alike and both engraved at the wedding. If i were you, i would really think about all the possibilities and go with the scenario that will most touch you as a couple...something you can tell people or your kids 10-20 years down the line...that's what is going to make it special.

Engrave his, but not yours.

Since I was in possession of my husband's ring before the wedding, I had it engraved. He had mine. Mine was a smaller band though, that could not be engraved. I liked the idea of surprising him, and sometimes not everything has to match.

If after your wedding, you would like yours engraved also, then you can have it done, like you said.

I secretly had his engraved and had mine done later. I think the suprise truly meant so much to him that he had mine engraved after with something different, but truly from his heart. Congrats on the wedding!

i would engrave his and let him decide whether to have yours engraved or not because the ring he is giving you is a token if his love and instead of love conquers all he may be saying seize the day for all you know...

if you are doing this as surprise for HIM then no you shouldn't engrave yours.. that is like giving yourself a present.. besides what if he should come up with something just as thoughtful to engrave your ring with, you've kinda taken the magic away by doing it yourself

Engrave his only.
Let him decide what he wants engraved in yours.

If you want yours engraved, do it yourself IF you want this message. If you think it's sweet and special, and really like the idea of this message being on your ring, then you need to take care of it to have it done. Otherwise, if you leave it up to him, he'll probably come up with something else and you'll be disapointed because it isn't the message you really had your heart set on (even if you aren't admitting that it's the one you have your heart set on).

Is there any chance that he'll come up with something you don't like or think is dumb? If so, do it yourself.
