I am looking to have a destination wedding. I don't want it to be anywhere that people need passports, so it has to be in the US, USVI, or PR. I prefer not PR though. Any ideas? I really would like to hear from someone who had experience with this. If you have can you make recommendations, tell me about cost, how your guests enjoyed it, etc. Thanks.

I am actually doing the destination wedding because I don't want to have to share my special day with my whole family. I don't like most of them and don't want to pay for a party for them. If anyone that I wanted to join couldn't afford it I would be happy to share the cost with them.

I'd say do some obscure place in the US. I've watched destination weddings on Style Network and they seem to be able to be done very cheaply.

My "destination wedding" is in Lake Tahoe, a gorgeous location almost any time of the year. They really cater to weddings and have a ton of venues and companies to choose from. My ceremony with limos, flowers, photos, and champagne comes to about $1000. All together with airfare, car rental, dress and tux, rings, 3 nights at a resort, and food my wedding is costing just under $5000. And that's only cuz we're staying in a suite at a resort.
Hawaii is another beautiful location. Niagra Falls would be pretty, and romantic.

Well if you want something in the continental US you could check out our location. We're getting married in Cannon Beach Oregon. Doesnt seem like the typical spot, but its absolutely beautiful. Google image search it for pictures. It's a fairly popular spot for oregon weddings so there are good photographers, bakeries, floritsts, etc in the area at reasonable prices.
In the summer the weadther is perfect for an outdoor event. I highly suggest checking it out.

Why do you want a destination wedding. Most people do that because they already have a place in mind. I personally think destination weddings are fine for just the bride and groom, but to expect other people to spend money on airfare and a motel room in order to go to your wedding is inappropriate. With the economy the way it is I'm sure there are many people you know and want to invite that just do not have the money for something like that. I'm sure I am in the minority to my way of thinking because destination weddings seem to be the popular thing to do nowadays, but I think it's selfish.
