My parents are divorced, and I haven't seen or talked to my dad in over a decade. My mom is walking me down to the aisle at my wedding. Would my fiance and I just cut out the dancing with the parents portion of the reception, or how could that work?

Why don't you just dance with your mom in place of the father-daughter dance? I think it'd be a beautiful and unique thing to do :). If that's not an option for you though, ask your fiance if he wants to have the mother-son dance, and decide from there. You could also dance with your father-in-law. It's all up to you and what you and your fiance is comfortable with. Congratulations and good luck :)

I'm cutting it out because my parents are divorced (mom remarried, dad didnt) and my fiance's father and step mom are together but his mom is deceased. I just feel it would not be a good thing to have this dance if it might cause problems.

You certainly do not have to do a parents dances. Alternatively, if either of you wanted to dance with any of your parents, you could do so during the general dancing during your reception. If you wanted a picture, just get the photographer's attention before you dance to make sure he/she takes a photo.

Yes, you can just not have it. Go right from having your first dance, to having the wedding party all dance, then the close family, then everyone!

purely depends on what you want, you can always ask your parents if they don't mind "not dancing".
and if they say "why not?" then give them a good logical reason
the same reason that makes you "not want" to dance with them.

what i mean is, sure you can cut it, but its always good to know both sides opinions

You can do whatever you please. Because of religion, I couldn't dance with my dad. He dedicated a song to me instead, and it was beautiful!
