Any simple invitation would work just fine for that and let them know we're providing xyz please bring whatever else you like including an extra place to park your seat.

Even though it is supposedly proper etiquette to invite someone to a reception, but not the ceremony, I disagree. To me, the main event is the exchange of vows. The reception is simply a party to celebrate this. I would be hurt if I were invited to one and not the other. If you are set on having it your way, send out two different invitations, a regular one and another containing only the info on the reception. Beware that this can cause confusion, as some guests call to find out what time the ceremony is supposed to be. They may assume an oversight, and not realize that they have been left out.

Well,
You can make the invites fun...perhaps a "ticket' type invite and say here is there ticket to the event of the summer....it can really be anything you want....
You can also make the what to bring requestsfun, something like, since we are newlyweds, you know our money is funny...bring an extra lawn chair and beverage of your choice!
or, assign duties....men your addmission to the party is a beverage, women, a lawn chair or two...just get creative with it..
Also, if you know someone with lawn furniture, you can always ask a couple of friends to help you host the party by bringing all their lawn stuff over as a favor...
One last idea, you can say here are the drinks we are providing, please byob if you want something different..and/or....we have 5 chairs and 50 guests.....either be the first here, or bring your own seat....(make it funny)
Good luck!

FUN!! Go for casual invites, maybe even postcards or (depending on your budget and the guest list) you send everyone a big plastic cup and hold a contest for whoever shows up with the best decorated one.
As for wording: We're officially married and it's time to warm the house. We'd love you to join us to celebrate both. On July 28th, our backyard, come around 3. We've got the basics, so grab your lawn chairs and BYOB.
Congratulations and have fun!

Well, if you're keeping it very casual, then I'd do something like this:
Come on over to 123 Main St. on
July 28 for a backyard BBQ
to help us warm our home and celebrate our new marriage
7pm till the cows come home...
Please bring a lawn chair to sit on
BYOB if you want something other than beer/soda.
Since you're keeping it casual--you can have fun. Go to your local card store and you'll see all sorts of ideas--I'm sure they'll even have some fun BBQ invites.

There are many sites on the web that have very casual invitations. Google "invitation wording" and search After ceremony reception. You should provide the food and drinks. Bringing the chairs is cute. You should get some fireworks.

Don't get anything too formal. Try to find something a little classy, but fun....or design your own and print on card stock.
You can put some type of note at the bottom of the card that reads:
"Don't stand on your feet, bring a seat"
Beer, sodas, and water will be provided. Feel free to bring your favorite alcohol if you'd like.

Depending on your budget for invites you can buy invitations pre-designed and print them yourself or you can order invitations from the many sources available. For verses I would suggest trying Verse This, they have a wide selection of verses to select from.
I would also suggest trying Occasion Creations (website is under construction) for inexpensive invitations. You can contact them and they will work with you. I have worked with them in the past...so I can recommend them.
Good Luck...and enjoy your day!

Try this:
I don't want to be crass
If you hate sittin' on grass
Before you leave home
Bring a chair of your own
A place to sit down your a**
For me; husband #2
For him, it is all new
Before you come here
Buy your own favorite beer
'Cause, we only got one kin'a brew
There should be a law against guys writing wedding invitations!
