Have a friend who is good with photography do them. Another idea would be an art student from a local college. Unfortunately some professionals will charge you everything from print fees to proof fees etc. Hopefully they can do digital and film. Write down exactly who you want pix of. Make sure they have a lot of memory, film and battery back-up.

Ask around. I found a couple in Raleigh--however the one I used is out of the business now.

Call bridal salons. Many of them display business cards of photographers. Do you go to church? Ask members of your church for who they used. That is how I found my cake baker and nearly the caterer I used.

However, one thing to consider is a photojournalism major at ECU. They need pictures for their portfolio. Another thing to consider --and someone I looked into--is hiring a photographer from one of those studios. They often moonlight on w/es to make extra cash. The lady at Glamour Shots in Greenville that I talked to mentioned she would do it for $1500. They have photo studios now in Sears and Walmart. Also look into child photographers. Usually they are much cheaper than a "wedding" photographer simply b/c it doesn't have the word wedding in front.

Thats going to be about the cheapest someone will do it as they are giving up a full day of their life, usually have an expensive camera, and printing out the proofs. However--if you wish to go cheaper you could probably have them do all digital (no film), burn all the pictures on a cd, and then you could chose to have any you like printed out and make a wedding album of your own. You might talk them down if they aren't incurring any of the costs of printing. Then later on you could submit them online to Walmart--they print them at 22 cents each and make your album whenever you get a chance.

Check Wilmington, New Bern and Jacksonville as well. They are getting quite a population and have a number of freelancers. Consider checking how expensive an add in the military papers is. Usually you can find some good deals around the base (Cherry Point, Johnson AFB too--not just Lejeune). I know they have a lot of photographers. Also consider taking out a Craigs List add for the Eastern NC division --under the Wanted catagory. You might get some responses to it.

I wish you the best of luck with this but generally you can get a cheap photographer or you can get a good photographer but to find both in one is a neat trick if you are able to pull it off. Go with as best as you can afford. You will only get one chance to get these pictures and you will treasure them and come back to them over the years of your life, so think what you would like to see later on...good or cheap.
