If they have a gift registry but you don't want to buy something off of it, you should think about giving the couple a gift card from that store. General gift cards are also good - like to home stores such as Bed, bath and beyond.

Since the couple has lived together for a long time chances are that they already have everything for their home. You can't go wrong with giving them money that may help them with wedding expenses or just bills in general. If you wanted to go out and get them something anyways a picture frame or twowould be nice as well, especially for all of those wedding pictures they will be taking! Your presence alone is a nice gift. Anything that you get them would be appreciated I'm sure Good Luck!! : )

After several years together, there's a good chance a coffee maker has died or some towels are beginning to fray. If you know of something they have that's seen better days, consider replacing it with a newer model. If they've registered anywhere, that's a good place to start.
Otherwise, choose something fun and frivolous. Give them a gift card for a favorite restaurant or sporting goods store, or his and hers massages at the local spa. Put together a gift basket of small indulgences like really good coffee or tea and some imported chocolates. Give them a coffee table book on a subject they both find interesting.
With a little imagination you can make their big day even more special because they have good friends who understand them and their preferences.

A "date" basket...fill it with pairs of tickets to the movies, dinner, the zoo, the aquarium, a baseball game...one of our dear friends gave my husband and I this cute gift for our wedding and we LOVED it...excuses to spend time together are the best gifts. They included a card that said "A couple that plays together stays together."

Even though they have been together so long, it is still a very special time. I just so happen to run a themed gift basket business and also got married myself. Are they registered anywhere? If you would like I could get something off their registry or design something special for the special couple and then send it to you or the them. Just shoot me an e-mail if you would like to do something like this or if you would like me to do something else.

a Gift card to their favorite store.... Or you can make a "theme" basket.... like Getting a big basket, do a theme like "raining day" date basket....inside the basket will have a gift card for delivery pizza, a DVD, couple bags of microwave popcorn, one 2 ltr bottle of their fave soft drink, a soft chennille "couch" blanket that matches their living room colors. Just be creative!!

If they have children, offer to keep the kids for a weekend so that they can have a short honey moon. Or, you can pay for their hotel, their diner, or some other thing to help them spend time together.
