Weddings - June 2007

I got married on June 2 and everything was great. However my wedding photographer who was paid $3500 lost a role of film from the reception, which included family photos of people that we don't see that often. The photographer seemed to show no remorse and still charged my mom full price, not to mention my poor mother cried because she was so upset about losing the family photos. Is there any way I should handle this or just do nothing until the wedding albums are finished so they at least do a decent job on those?

I'm having a beach wedding next month in the morning and the reception is that evening closer to our hometown. My parents are paying for the reception that evening, however they're not going to the wedding. My dad says he has to work. He's missed my graduations before. My mom said she won't go since my dad isn't going. My bro in law says I'm being inconsiderate for having the wedding so far away-2 hours away. So they're not going to it. So I will have no family at the wedding. Some friends from church are throwing me a bridal shower this Friday and my mom said she can't go because she can't drive that far-30 min.The day after she told me that, I told her that I'll be willing to pick her up to take her and then drive her back home. She then said no because she would be too tired from work. The shower is 3 hrs after she is off work. I have gotten upset about the wedding and bridal shower isssues. My family says they love my fiance and are happy for us, but why are they acting this way?

Ok. I have already been through one engagement. I went 6 months without a ring and I was still as giddy as can be to be getting married. Now I am engaged again and again, I don't have a ring. I don't care. I just want the wedding band. Why do people think that you need an engagement ring in order to be engaged? I hardly wear jewlry and the jobs I take make it hard for me to have rings on. I love him and he loves me. That is all I care about.

For those who plan on getting married in the future, what food do you like to have at your reception? For me when I plan on getting married, I'd just would like to have BBQ (nothing too fancy) like chicken, ribs, brisket, coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad as well as pecan pie, apple pie, and peach pie and iced tea (choice of sweetened or unsweetened) with lemons. I am a Texan and BBQ is the king there and I love BBQ. What do you like to have to eat at your wedding reception besides that wedding cake and punch?

My mother called me the other day asking where I was going to stay the day before the wedding and I told her at my home with my fiance. She did not appove of seeing my soon to be husband until I walk down the isle. I told her that I was not going to that. Well I tried calling her all day yesterday and finally she returned my call later in the evening. I called my little sister and ask if my mom got her a dress and she said no. So I called my mom to see when she was going to get her the flower girl dress and she said she did. Then she went back into the same subject about what we argued about the day before and I told her the same thing I was not going to do it her way this is how I want things. She still didn't approved and said I was disrespecting her and she was not going to attend the wedding then hung up. Five minutes later she called back to say she was going to attend the wedding but maybe not go the dinner, I told her I needed a firm answer weather if she and my 3 little sisters

I'm going with my boyfriend of almost four years to his brother's wedding. The bride and groom are like family to me, and we want to do something special for them, but we're students with hardly any money. They already live together and have all the typical newlywed stuff like toasters and wine glasses. They already have the money to buy anything they want anyway, and gift cards seem lame. Ideas, please!

OK, here's the facts. Have been invited for noon wedding with a reception at 6 p.m. to follow. We found out through the grape vine what was being served for dinner. Dinner is to be a 'Sub' style dinner with a cash bar. 'Sub' as in those big 3-4 ' long submarines along with a veggie only for those who require the meatless accomodation. The invitations requested a $ value to help the couple out. HELP...

We are planning a wedding in September. We have a special romantic place "down by the creek". Actually it is in the creek but there is a large dry flat rock place in the middle. No water around it and very easy to get to. It will be a late afternoon wedding. Both of us barefoot, his pants rolled up and my dress hem up from water.
It will be very small with only 10-15 people there. We are planning a large reception\party when we return from honeymoon 3 days after. But I still want it decorated at creek. Nothing hugh but romantic and great for pix.
The only idea I really have is white ballons w\helium on strings at different leanth from ground up, to make it appear they are floating all around us.

For the women: Did your fiance go to a strip club for his bachelor party? If yes, how did you feel about it?

For the men: Did you go to a strip club for your bachelor party or for a friends bachelor party? If yes what goes on there?

My fiance propose to me a week ago and we had to get the ring resized. We pick it up next week. Then after we do that we were going to take professional pictures at a portriat studio and it takes two weeks til we get the pictures in our hands. Then we were going to mail and pass them out. A whole 3-4 week process. (And we were thinking of having magnets made with thepicture on them and sending those to as a save the date for the engagment party too). Is this all too much. (Money is not the issue)

Writer's block!!! Any ideas for a heartfelt and meaningful message to be engraved on a silver bracelet that I'm giving my best friend the night before her wedding? I'm the maid of honor and we've maintained our friendship despite living far away from each other. I'd like it to be something that speaks to her and her husband's love rather than just our unique friendship. But if it says something short and sweet about distance and love would be nice.

My fiance's family (and some of mine) will be coming in from out-of-town and are staying at a hotel. Other members of my family live in the area, but not close to the church. Our ceremony is at 1:30 and our reception won't start until 5 or 6, so there will be a good 2-3 hours in between. My mother insists that we need to figure something out for the guests to do while we're taking photos, but we're limited on options. We cannot have a gathering at our home because it's too small, and we don't have the option of another relative's house. My mother suggested we book an extra hour onto the reception, but it's very expensive and most of the sites can't add an hour to the beginning because of set-up.

I keep telling my mother that people aren't surprised when there is time in between, but she insists we can't do that. What should we do? The reception will be close to the hotel of the out-of-towners.

Do you think lilac and silver would work for wedding colors? The girls would be in lilac and the guys vests would be silver. I can't decide which purple would look best. I have narrowed it down to these colors from Davids Bridal:
Hyacinth
Victorian Lilac
Lilac
Light Peri

Also what could you do for the flowers?

For my wedding I want the colors to be white and tourquiose with zebra print accents.

The only things that are zebra print are the pew ribbons, the ribbons on the bouquets, the groomsmens vest, the bridesmaids shoes & a couple other little things.
