LOL, "bridezilla"!!!! I understand completely where you are coming from. I was in the SAME exact situation with my sister. Just remember this:
1) You are her maid of honor so she must know you are a poor working student. Hence, anything you get her that is thoughtful will be greatly appreciated
2) You have agreed to fulfill the responsibilities of the MOH. Therefore she know you must be a good friend to take on the part.
Bed Bath and Beyond have all sorts of very affordable houseware items. But if she's already established and bought all that housing-ware items (I'm assuming since she's a mother of two) you can try taking another approach. A manicure gift certificate to a local salon/spa would be great so she can get her nails done for the wedding. Or a massage certificate to a spa so she can relax before the wedding to take a load of stress off! Both can be a little as $25-$45. Good luck!

Save her wedding invitation and make a shadowbox frame. Use some of her wedding colors, even some silk flowers that look like her wedding flower..Put some reception mementos like matchbook. Burn the edges and put it against a black velvet background.. It's not expensive and it's an elegant keepsake... You can find the frames at Michael's/Pat Catan's also if you look in the Sunday circular there are Michaels coupons for 20% off reg. priced items.. Or make her a photo album... Cover with fabric and embelish it with wedding things.. It's also a keepsake and a easy on the wallet... We used to make them when I was in college....

Why did you even agree to be the MOH if you're going to act like that? Those things could mean a lot to the person who asked you...and she probably doesn't expect some extravagant gift from you. She knows you are putting in the time and effort (and money) for things like the shower and bach party anyway. Suck it up and drop the attitude.

Make her something, where ever your talents lie. If you paint, make her a painting, photography... take a picture that makes you think of her, or of her kids and her, um, you can make her a scrapbook. Just because you are the maid of honor does not mean you need to spend a fortune. Its the meaning behind the gift, not the cost.

A book on bridal etiquette ; )
Seriously though, how about a nice bracelet with an engraving? Those could run about $35 at the mall jewelers...

How about a book? I always get my friends a copy of " The 5 Love Languages"... and inscribe something in the front of the book.

A cute picture frame is always a good idea. Depending on where you shop you will probably be able to find one pretty cheap. Also, looking on ebay under weddings, can give you a good idea for inexpensive gifts.
