I had a friend for a long time, then we started dating in college, then she became a sorority girl and began cheating, so everything sort of fell apart. We don't speak much anymore unless we end up meeting through mutual friends.
She's getting married in a couple of months, and I've refused to go to the wedding. Everyone thinks it's because I'm bitter we broke up, but I don't want to go because I really don't approve of the wedding. She's been engaged to the guy longer than they've dated/known each other. He's nice and smart and seems decent (he has a great job for 24), but he's wet behind the ears in more ways than one (he was a virgin before he met my ex/his fiance, for example).
I feel like this marriage might be doomed from the starting block, but I've yet to voice my concerns. Is this something I should bring up? Am I obligated to tell her the truth? Or should I let the happy couple stroll down the aisle?

My fiance and I are getting married in two months. His parents were only asked to pay for booze and the rehearsal dinner. Keep in mind, its not even a lot of booze, it was only 2 kegs, and maybe some wine. They started saying all of this stuff about not wanting to pay for it, and also started questioning out motives for getting married in the first place (just to hit us where it hurt) Along with calling me a slut, and saying we dont deserve a good wedding to begin with.

After hearing all this, me and my fiance came to the conclusion that we didnt want their help with the wedding at all. We would rather come up with the money ourselves, then accept help from his parents when they are being so rude and difficult. However, as soon as we told them not to worry about it anymore, they threw a huge fit about how they were looking forward to it, and tried to make us feel bad for acting like such monsters!

Were we justified in turning away their help? What would you do?

What types of foods are the best to serve at weddings. I don't want something too fancy or something lame. I'm think buffet but I'm not sure what kind of places I should call and how much I should except to spend. and what kinds of food should we have in the buffet or is it better to serve at the table sort of family type. I'm a big fan of mexican, italian, and oriental. But I like other foods too. should I do a mix or stick to one type? What's your suggestion? The wedding is next July probably around the 12th.

Michelle is 15 and Paul is 18. Paul just graduated from high school and he asked Michelle to marry him. Michelle is one of my best friends and she wants me to be one of her bride's maids. They plan on getting married July or August 2008. I am worried that Paul doesn't really love her because he has cheated on her in the past and treated her badly. Michelle has thought she was pregnant 3 times, and he did stick with her though... so i'll give him props for that. Michelle is also going to be one of my bride's maids when i get married in three years to my boyfriend Matt. And our other bride's maid, Lauren will be getting married in three years to her senior boyfriend Austin. (Lauren, Michelle, Matt and I are all 15.) Do you think that we are too young to be thinking about things like this? Do you think that our relationships will last?
Just to help you out a little
Paul and Michelle have been dating for 5 months
Me and Matt & Austin and Lauren have dated for 8 months.
thanks!
Brit

I am thinking of creating a 'candy topiary' seen on Martha Stewart but want to create it with a brown/pink/white color scheme as opposed to random candy.

We are getting married next weekend (6/30), and I cannot come up with a good gift to give him at the wedding... Something under $100 (possibly $150 for a really good gift). I've considered a nice tool set, an accessory box with our wedding date on it, and a watch, but I would like some more ideas!

OK! We are having a hen party at the Brides House (I am chief bridesmaid). However, she is pregnant, so can't drink.

15 hens will be in attendance. We have manicures, pedicures & back/shoulder massages. Tarot readings. Buffet and drinks!!

However, do you have any extra ideas that will make the party go with a bang! Bear in mind - we won't be venturing out, as the bride is 5 months preggers and can't do all that... and there will be no men! Also NO STRIPPER!!

Any ingenious suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks to one and all....

As a bride, did you/are you going to change your name? I know it's traditional to take the man's last name, but I love my name and don't want to change it. I love my guy to death, but my name is part of my identity. So, do you think changing your name is a good thing or a bad thing?

I was just wondering if I have to notify anyone when making my name double barrelled when I marry.

When I say notify anyone, I mean, do I have to tell the registrar marrying us of my intention?

I know there's kits out there to buy, but I read many reviews and alot of people say they're a waste of money. I heard you can find everything you need online instead. Is there a site that anyone has found to be helpful? A list of things to change and possibly forms to assist?

I was at one where the cake just collapse- still tastes the same though :) Another were a bride dress got stood on by a drunk uncle and ripped the whole section of tulle off!! (She is able to laugh about it now). Another one where a bride toss the bouquet like a football and took down her 10 year old cousin getting a soda at the bar.

Best TRUE story gets 10 points!!

Okay, so my fiancee and I, have been dating 4 years. We are in college, have all our financial troubles out of the way, and we were going to get married in December of this year.... we also had thrown the idea of a spring wedding as well. I am wondering if people like winter or spring weddings better. And if you have any cute ideas for winter weddings, that would be awesome, because it's so easy to find summer wedding stuff, but harder for winter wedding stuff. Thanks so much guys!
