I love winter weddings. It would depend on where you live and if you want an indoor wedding. If you live in a cold area and want to get married outside then winter is not for you. Also if you have many people from out of town or have to travel then the snow might be a problem. You can not predict the weather and you might have to change you plans if a blizzard comes.
Can use dark colors and snow flakes as decorations.
Best Wishes on the wedding and the marriage.

Congratulations!!! I actually got married in the winter time- February 17th. I loved it! I think winter time is soooo romantic. I also loved that I could choose darker colors and a long sleeved (sheer sleeves) dress. My colors were deep reds and purples. I know it may be harder to find some stuff, although I didn't have too hard of a time, but we actually got some discounts on the dj and the reception and food because it was kind of 'off' season for weddings. I also love the idea of wedding pictures taken outside in the snow .
Good Luck!

I have a wedding planned for every season... Spring is easier to travel, b/c you won't have to worry about ppl not making it b/c of snow...On the other hand WInter weddings can be awesome!. My ideas for a winter wedding is like a winter wonderland. You could have nice glitery fake snow as decor, and snow flakes. The color theme could be white and silver. You could have comfort foods LIke soup and sandwiches, or mac and cheese. Oh yeah, and instead of harsh lighting use candles and white Christmas lights. String em up on the ceailing at the reception, and it'll look like a starry night. If you could see it the way i do, it's so pretty! :)
Good Luck!

I'm starting to wish I could have a winter wedding, but my fiance's a teacher, and we're kind of stuck with summer. Winter can be really cool. Plus it can be a lot cheaper since you won't be competing with so many other weddings for reception halls, caters, photographers, etc. My parents had a December wedding, and they used poinsettias, candles, and such to decorate. I've also heard of candles in globes being used for the bridesmaid's bouquets. If you have more of a destination wedding you could even do something cool like leave in a sleigh or snowmobile instead of a limo. Go skiing for the honeymoon! Of course, like the first poster said, spring is nice, cause it can be outside. But for a winter wedding you don't have to worry about rain ruining your big day. :-)

Winter weddings are growing on me! I went to a December wedding in 2006 and there's another one this year. To me, they feel more "fairy tale" like because of the rich, warm colours. The white dresses feel more like snow and the cream dresses feel more cozy - if that makes any sense! Winter weddings make me feel like there should be a crackling fireplace at the ceremony or reception - they can be a lot of fun!
I would go with either a snow theme (ie: cake with icicles or snowflakes on it) or maybe a crackling fire theme - lots of oranges and reds. You can really encorporate these into your cake, centrepieces and favors. Also, your food can be a lot more "comfort food" which I think is great - very "warm your soul" type stuff!

A winter wedding can be really fabulous, but be aware that prices for renting reception sites go way up around the holidays.
For themes, "Winter Wonderland" would be cool. You could do decor in icy colors like silver and pewter with accents of red or pink. You could save a mint on centerpieces if you did curly willow branches sprayed in silver with hanging crystals instead of traditional flowers. You could do themes of snow and crystals to make everything look elegant in modern.
The possibilities are endless!

I think weddings are nice any time of year. The one thing you might want to think about with December is that a lot of people are already busy with Christmas, New Years, etc. so that might affect how many people on your guest list can come.
On the other hand, if you marry before the year is out, you get the tax break in April.
Just a couple minor practical points to keep in mind.

Unless you are into Winter Sports, like skiing, have a Spring Wedding, they you can have more honeymoon options.
Another plus for the Spring Wedding is the proximity to Christmas. Folks will be blowing a bundle on Christmas, and won't much want to spend money on someone's wedding.

I love weddings in the winter , but I love wintertime. And it is according to where u live if u have to have your wedding inside. But, if u can stand to be outside long enough to be married , under a gazebo at night full of white twinkling lights would be beautiful.

We got married New Year's Eve (mid-week) and had a smaller wedding. We each had one attendant and the bridesmaid wore a silver top/black bottom dress. Black tuxes. I wore white and my hubby made my bouquet out of wire, beads, pearls, crystals, etc. It was beautiful and sparkled! We had sparkly snowflakes everywhere! It was beautiful! The front of our church had trees with lights on it and we hung a simple white cloth as an archway to get married under! Lots of candles! Had little bit of light blue in it too. Cake was light blue square tiers with white snowflakes and our monogram on it and icing snowflake picks coming out of the top like sparklers! It was so cool!
