Don't.
It's a waste of your precious time and money. People leave them.

I'm from Australia and a popular wedding favour here is personalised rock candy. I'm sure if we can get it here then it will definitely be available in the States too! You can choose the flavours and colours and they build your names and a little heart or something like that into the centre of the candy. Have a look at www.suga.com.au to get the idea.

Chinese silk fans make really nice favours for women guests, I've seen that done before. For our wedding in November, my finace is having beer holders made up for the guys (classy, right?). Aussie men prefer to drink their beer straight from the bottle, so beer holders fit the bill for a practical gift that people will actually use!

My colors are very similar for my own September wedding. I'm doing caramel apples for everyone. I thought the colors of them would add to the decor as well. We're having a caramel apple making party with the moms and some of my bridesmaids the day before. The house is going to smell wonderful!

Wedding guests only like two types of favors, something . .

Edible (Preferably something homemade like cookies)

Useful (Small candy dish, bud vase, candle sticks)

"Cute items" will either be left on the reception table or thrown away when the guest gets home.

Edible favors tend to be the best. Non-edible things usually end up being left behind.

If you don't want to do candy, how about small bags of roasted or candied nuts? You can seal the bag with a gold sticker with your monogram on it. The smell of candied nuts always says "autumn" to me.

If you want to be healthy, how about clementines? You can place a few in a bag tied with a ribbon.

Miniature loaf cakes in autumn flavors (cranberry orange, pumpkin, etc) might also be a good option. Wrap them in plastic/cellophane and tie a pretty ribbon around each. You can order these at a bakery or you can make your own.

Something edible. Possibly something that fits with the theme like caramel apples.

A donation to charity on behalf of the guests is another option.

Anything like those baby picture frames or a bottle stopper usually gets thrown away or left behind on the tables. It's sad but true so in that case I would use the money to spend upgrading something the guests would appreciate more. After all a favor is a small gift for them to thank them for coming so it should be something they like.

I've been seeing photo booths around - like the ones they have at carnivals and the movie theater and malls where you get the strip of pictures. Your guests can take photos in the booth as their favor and then some of the companies also make up a scrapbook for the bride and groom and the guests can write notes next to their pictures.

One wedding I went to the Bride handmade little decorative boxes and filled with candy and a personal message. I thought that was cute.

Another wedding I went to the Bride had a black candle in a white pearl candle holder. They were only about 2.00 a piece. We gave the holder to my mom and threw out the candle, it didn't match anything in our decor and kind of looked tacky.

I recommend if you give something make sure it's probably something someone will use again. Try contacting http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=browse&origin=home.jsp&event=catalog&categoryId=377344&tabId=PartySupplies Oriental Trading and see if you can get the candles that are imprinted with your names. They have lots of ideas on their page.

Good luck and congrats!

You can make sachets using tulle, ribbon and pot pourri. Most of the scents available are in fall colors. You can also make little candy bags using tulle and ribbon. You could buy small votive candles and wrap with tulle and ribbon too or buy wraps with your names and date of the wedding on them and attach to the candle holders. You could do photo magnets. All of these are favors your guests can actually use. Congrats on your marriage.

My friends who got married in September (second wedding for both) gave magnets with their names and wedding date and scratch off lotto tickets as favors.
