1. To the extreme-
If your woman is the sporty type, you can propose to her from the heights of a mountain after a day of rock climbing. Other possibilities would be during a parachute jump or a scuba-diving session in South America, or anywhere else for that matter.

2. Make a video-
Making a personal video of yourself proposing to her can have a great effect, especially if you are watching it with her. She will likely jump from joy and want to skip straight to the honeymoon...

3. In mid-air-
A more public display of affection is to have the captain of an airplane you are on recite your marriage proposal to your woman over the intercom. You can just picture it: "We are now flying over the Grand Canyon and will be arriving at our destination in approximately 45 minutes. And, by the way, Joanna, Michael would like to know if you would do him the honor of marrying him."

Of course, after this, all you should hope for is a "yes" and a safe landing.

4. My way or the highway-
Just imagine driving home from work and seeing a billboard that says "Lucy, will you marry me?" This will have an amplified effect, and the rest of the commuters who see it will hope it works out for you.

They will also hope that she doesn't slam the brakes in excitement.

5. Marriage on the big screen-
Let's say you agreed to go see the latest Julia Roberts movie, and right before the movie is about to start, as part of the previews, one frame action simply displays the words: "Maria, will you be my wife?"

Although this is not likely to win you an Oscar nomination, it will certainly go down in the annals of history for best dramatic sequence.

In my opinion the perfect proposal depends on the type of girl. You can pump her sisters or brothers for what she likes/what she thinks is romantic. My friend's fiance took her out on a boat on a river during sunset and they talked and watched the sun set. Then he told her 2 close her eyes and when he said open them she say rose petals scattered all over the boat and in the water around the boat. He bent down on 1 knee as best he could in the boat lol and asked her 2 marry him. She said yes of course and he took a hidden basket form under her seat that had chocolate covered strawberries, wine, and the ring. While she told me about it I could tell that she though that it was the perfect proposal. But all girls have different preferences and you should take into account the kinds of rings that she likes.

I think the nicest proposal one could get would be one completely out of the blue. Surprise her at work and propose to her right then and there. Or call her with some sort of problem (something being broken is usually a good one), and when she shows up, open the door holding the ring and just ask her. Something along those lines is really sweet!

A lot depends on what your girlfriend is like. Is she romantic; spontaneous; quirky; prone to be more humorous? If your girlfriend is not one who deals well with emotional situations keep it light and fun. If she is very personal and private don't do it publicly. Does she like or dislike surprises? Above all remember this is for her, not you. It should be ALL about her. Most ladies are happy with simple, traditional and heart-felt honest approaches. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. A friend of mine waited until her girlfriend's bachlorette party and posed as the stripper having the ring attached to his thong and a sign on his bottom that just said, "Will ya?" Another told all his friends and when they had a game of "hot & cold" everyone was in on it and she was guided to a little display sit up for her. Another mailed the ring to his girl with a wedding invitation, it said she should "wear white with a veil." LOL Another dressed up like Spider-man to propose because she's crazy about the character. Another did a Lord of the Rings party, and held a contest for the one ring as prize - guess what the "one ring" was? A wedding ring fashioned after the one ring. Look to her hobbies, interests and favorites and just get creative. Does she adore Chinese food? Look for a restaurant who'll make a fortune cookie with your ring in it. Do it with love with her and only her in mind and you should do wonderfully. You're a special guy proven by the fact you're looking for the best by asking around. Good luck to you and your lucky lady!

Pack a picnic basket full of gourmet food, wine, etc and have a good friend plant it for you in some isolated gorgeous bushy / beachy location - ie go for a bushwalk or something and then she can be walking ahead of you and turn around and ... surprise, you pull this picnic basket out from behind a tree.
Then it's just the two of you, a gorgeous picnic and the nature. (but maybe you should hang on to the ring if you're using one, in case some other lucky bushwalker stumbles on your picnic treats before you do!!)

Do it while she's at work--set it up with the boss beforehand..she will NOT be expecting it, and you can whisk her away from the office for a day of something special...get a limo and go to her parents house to show the ring and make your announcement, your parent's , special friend...then a romantic dinner, and whatever else! No matter what you decide, she will be telling this story thousands of times over the course of her life, so give her a great story to tell!

Do you both like to fly? You could have her flown over something and have it spelled out somewhere in a field or on top of a building.

Or have her taken to some sort of dinner show and have it pre-arranged to come out in the middle of the stage during part of it, and excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and instead show up on stage.

Go somewhere special where you two first met, or where you like to go to the most. If you like to go to the park, you could have a small surprise party for her and then ask her in front of your friends and family.

Start off leaving her a note and tell her to go to a certain place, do this like a scavenger hunt and have her find clues and go to a special place where you are down on one knee and propose to her.

Or if you want, take her to a family cookout or something like that and then have your family in on it. Plan a special occasion and ask her there.

You could have a family function where everyone knows but her and play charades. In it, have your family guess "Will you marry Me?" while you are playing it out. And see if she gets it. Watch her face and then get down on one knee.

I pray you and your girlfriend have a long and happy life. God Bless you.

Well, first, ask yourself this question: does she have any fantasies or dream about something romantic (hint hint if you never caught onto her supposed romantic antics)? Or, do you want something announced in public? There's many forms or fashions, so don't feel limited.

I've heard of many creative things such as having strangers give the bride-to-be red roses while walking into a restaurant or airport until the groom-to-be appears with a ring :P

just make sure you are very romantic! Maybe a hot balloon ride or on the beach at sunset or in a boat on the water when the sun is going down. Just show her how much thought you put into this and make her feel like the most special person in the world to you, and she'll be so happy she won't be able to say no.
