You are already being pretty diff. since showers are thrown for a bride not a groom. In fact I don't think there has even been a man at the showers I've been to. It's just not their thing.

Most of the games I know are for women but I suppose you could do something like racing remote controlled cars on a track that looks like an aisle of a church to the alter or something?

We did two games at my best friends shower because I hate games at showers, but if they were easy and not too cumbersome(like bridal bingo) I was willing to do them. The first was we gave a list of words to the bride and she had to complete the phrase like
Brides ____
Holy____
Flower____

This can be fun because if the girl has a good sense of humor the answers can be funny and more off the wall.

The second was we set a timer for 10 minutes during the gift opening, every time the timer went off the woman whose gift she was opening got a prize.

They were dollar store prizes, nothing extravagant. We gave out recipe cards, mini photo albums, purse mirrors, just little things. For 36 women I had 2 prizes for the first game (in case of a tie) and 10 prizes for the timer game and I wound up with extras. Dont forget if you run out, you can give the centerpieces away. Also, if you dont like the dollar store prizes you can get dollar scratch off lottery tickets, everyone loves those.

We also did a special game, but it wasnt really a game. I spoke to the groom and asked if he would like to get her a special gift from just him. Usually its jewelry, but it can be anything really. Then wrap it up 5 times. One the first layer of wrap you put that its to be opened by the woman wearing something old. Then she unwraps a layer and the next layer is to be opened by a woman wearing something new, and so on and so forth for borrowed and blue. Then the final layer should have a tag that reads it should be opened by a woman who will soon be needing something old, new, borrowed and blue, read: the bride. And when she opens it its a wonderful gift from her soon to be husband. Everyone went nuts for this and I have seen it used by a few of the women that attended the shower and were then throwing their own showers. BTW, that should be the closing gift, dont do it first.
Hope this helps!

Neither the Bride's Mother nor the Groom's Mother should "host" a wedding shower for their son or daughter, it is a form of solicitation and inappropriate.

Immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters, and live in grandparents) should not "host" any party or event that involves gifts for the Bride and Groom.

1. Take a baby scale and weigh the ladies purses and the heaviest one and the lightest one wins.
2. Gift Bingo - every guest is given a paper with a list of some of the gifts that the couple registered for. There is a box on the paper with a grid to make it look like a bingo card - the guest will write on the grid in whatever order they choose the gift item and as the gifts are opened, each gift is like a bingo ball, and the gift is marked off the grid. Thr first to call bingo wins.

It's not uncommon at all these days to have "Jack & Jill" showers. Lots of guys attend showers these days.

You could ask the guests to make words out of the letters of the bride & groom's names. Or, you could do a wedding-related word search puzzle.

You could make up a "Pin the Veil on the Bride" or "Pin the Tie on the Groom" game.

Maybe even a three-legged race, with the racers being the married couples at the event.

Make a list of 20 questions and ask them to his partner. Before he arrives, read the questions to the guest and have them write down if they think he will get it right or wrong. Then, at the shower ask him the same questions. For every wrong answer give him a piece of gum to chew. For every right answer, give him a dollar. The guest that had him figured out, wins a prize. Use questions like.... what is his favorite food?....song?.....color?.....what was his childhood pet's name? ...how many drinks until he gets drunk?....fantasy vacation.

You can also think of famous pair like..(romeo & juliet...sonny & cher...bill & hilary) and place them individually on index cards. When your guests walk in, have them pick a card. Then ask them to find their pair and share how they know your son. This is a good ice breaker and gets all the guest to mingle.

Sorry to say that it is not appropriate to give a shower for immediate family. Showers should be given by a friend, cousin or aunt. No closer realtive should throw a shower or it appears you are expecting gifts for your child. Please rethink this idea. Also, you may mean you are giving it for his finace, but that is not how your question reads. Giving a shower for your SON?
