What do you think about the idea of getting married in Las Vegas? My boyfriend and I were talking/joking about it. But now he seems serious about it. At first I thought it would be funny and kinda cool to get married by "Elvis" but then I realized I've always dreamed of myself having a traditional wedding. Do you think its too informal or "corny" to get married in Las Vegas by "the king of rock and roll"?

The situation is this, my mother is in contact with sisters that my grandfather had with another woman. The situation is so messed up that my mother's sisters are older than my grandmother. I have never met them and the rest of the family feels uncomfortable around them because of these issues. Most of the rest of the family has never met them either.

After me and my fiance moved in together and living together for a few years we have everything we could ever need for our home. Nice things that I do not want to replace. So I think there is no need for wedding gifts at our wedding and we have decided to not even mention gifts.
People I know have told me that our relatives are bringing something regardless..
Does anyone have any suggestions on what we might ask for that would be ok to get us for the people that insist getting a gift?
I know I know its tacky but some of these stubborn relatives are getting something for us regardless and I would rather them not waste money and get me something I already have 25 of

My cousin got married over the weekend. I ran into her 2 months ago and she told me she was getting married but it wasn't going to be a big wedding. I went to her bridal shower but she still didn't tell me where it was or If I could've gone. I wanted to respect her wishes but I found out at the shower that all the rest of the people was invited. She told me that it'll be a small wedding so I didn't pressure or aggravate her by asking her. I was annoyed by the fact that everyone was invited but me(there was only like 8 people there) and to the fact that some girls asked if I was going...

My son and his GF split about 4 months ago. She has told me how she feels about him but I don't want to get involved in the situation. They were together for about 4yrs and are both as stubborn as one another. I have told her I think all they need is time apart and he could be giving her this chance to go away and do what she wants to do. He is not going anywhere and is totally dedicated to the family business. How do I help these 2! She is very open with her feelings and regrets leaving but she says the time apart has made her realise how much he means to her. I know she has been down to see him a few times and stayed with him and left early in the morning.

I am in the market for an engagement ring. I have been looking for something nice, but for something I feel is impressive is SO expensive. There are natural occuring diamonds, and there are what they call "lab-created" diamonds. They are supposed to have the same sparkle, the same "fire" and the same hardness. Do you think it's wrong to save thousands of dollars we could be putting towards a wedding just to have a "natural" diamond? Thoughts?

I'm looking for someone that's a bit different but can't seem to find anywhere that offers such a thing. I don't want punky, gothic, fake, jokey or too outrageous, just something other than a diamond and a band. Please can someone offer suggestions? Websites or shops are equally fine. Thanks.

What activities can we do together? I am 26 yrs old and don't have a clue as to what teen boys like or want to do. This is our honeymoon/family vacation, I didn't want to take my 5 yr old and leave the 15 yr old behind with his mom. It just didn't seem very fair to me. To favor one and not the other just because he doesn't live with my husband and I. I just need help with what activities he may like doing. We have already planned the Zoo, Muesum and Planetarium. Please help! I don't want all the activities to be "too childish" for the 15 yr old!

My fiance and I were engaged in June and have started making plans for the wedding. We are a younger couple 18 & 20 but have been together going on 3 years. We set a date TOGETHER and started to make plans. My parents just paid for the hall for the ceremony and reception and I have started paying toward my dress. We have all the colors, guests, attire and food arranged. His family has never been 100% supportive in our relationship or the engagement because we are young. Yesterday he told me that him and his aunt were talking and he decided and she agreed that he was to immature to get married. He says that he DOES NOT want to end the relationship or the engagement just set the date back to some unknown time until he feels he mature enough. My problem is that I want to be understanding but at the same time why ask if your not ready, and why let my family pay for so much already. I have no idea how to tell my parents or anyone else for that matter. Please any advice?

My boyfriend and I went looking for engagement rings yesterday and I came across a wedding set I really liked. The center is a colorless diamond (.71 carat) and the rest totals 1.3 carats (with center included). It is a GREAT diamond, because of it's lack of color and certification but the price is $4,700. It seems a bit much. Is this average? I know engagement rings are expensive but I thought it'd be less. Also, is it common to get the wedding set (bridal set) instead of just the engagement ring? And what is the average engagement ring size? 1.3 carat is good, right? I mean they say bigger is better but I find the ring FANTASTIC :)

How would handle a situation of that matter? Do you think you would have a choice to choose over your mate or your children especially if you were married? Does it make a difference if your girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife? if either parties didn't like ones children?

I was just curious to see how many people had a big wedding vs. running off. I myself ran off 2 months after my 18 birthday and got married. We were planning a wedding but my honey came home on leave and we couldn't wait. None of our family or friends were there. What was your wedding like?

My fiance and i are going to jamaica for our honeymoon. His mother does the travel agent thing so she got it for really cheap and its all inclusive. However, his family will be there at the same time. They had already planned to go and it would have been a cheap trip for us to go. We won't be on the same flight as them so its not like we'll actually be with them. We probably won't even see them plus we're going on a cruise with my family a couple months later so we need to save as much money as possible. Does anyone think thats weird? I just want a nice inexpensive honeymoon and this sounds like our best bet.
