I know it's an age-old question, BUT.. here's some background: she's very focused on her body and weight - to the point of distraction. She won't eat meals with us - she has her own special food and special times to eat, exercises compulsively, is 52 and still shops in the "junior" section (you know, short skirts, low cut tops, push up bras, the whole bit). She loves drama, and creates it when she can't find it. She doesn't have anything good to say about me, doesn't spend time w/our two young girls unless it's a holiday or she's trying to impress someone else that she's a great grandma, doesn't clean her house, is not at all dependable (showed up 1.5 hours late to my daughter's 1st bday party), etc. My husband wishes it were different, but has accepted that she just isn't going to change. Can we slowly just sever ties? She's not a good influence on my girls (always talking about weight and calories), and she promises to do things w/them and then doens't show.
