I overheard my mother in law talking about my husband and I on the telephone. I told him about it and he confronted her. She apologized and now they are speaking. It's been 2 weeks already but she won't really talk to me unless I speak to her 1st and when she does it's with an attitude. I've had it, I'm ready to flip the script on her.

My mom is not the stereotypical mother. She has lied and cheated on my dad and told us all about her affairs in major detail. We grew up not telling my dad any of this. Well one night i got pretty sick of all the fighting and fussing and just told him. Not about all the men but some. They've been divorced since i was little but always lived together. I just get soo tired of lieing for her all the time that it finally caught up with me. My dad's really a great hard working guy it sucks to see him go through this. Anyways since then my mom has completely quit coming around except to come see my daughter or use my computer. She started hanging out with one of my freinds i used to go to school with. Now they are insepertable. I'm sorry but my mom's 40 years old and this girl is 22. It really hurts cause i feel like i've been replaced. I'll make time and ask her to come over and she says she will and never does. I cant help it but i'm jealous of her new freind. I know its pathetic but cant

She is driving me crazy, she's 71 and gets into my business. Everyday she asks me the wife if I'm going to work, tells me to comb my hair, comes into the bathroom and talks to me , looking at her watch and telling me what time it is. I tell her to get out of the bathroom and mind her own business. Im no spring chicken. I want her to move out and get her own place so we'll all be happy. She can live close by but not inside my house but my husband does'nt want to hurt her feelings. She's been here 5 weeks.

I don't think she does. I mean she reads my diary and also my e-mails and text messages and rummages through my drawers and school things. The other day she found a note from my boyfriend that had some pretty private things in it about when we were going to go all the way and she flipped out. Plus, she got mad because I wrote an entry in my diary saying I can't stand her and she took it personal! I mean I was just mad that day! She should give me a break and let me have my privacy I mean I don't go through her things! Anyone agree with me? Does she really have a right to do this?

does that effect your relationship with your parents?

I am the youngest and I think it does. Because they don't want me to be like my oldest brother.

Hi. I'm a member of the R+S forum, and this is my first foray into your territory.

The above question is one I've asked a few times in R+S, and the answers I receive are always beautifully written, heartfelt, and a joy to read.

If you will, please take a few moments to share some of the things your grandparents have taught you, and the impact these lessons have had on you today.

Thanks to all for answering.

Hello, I am a black young man that was happily married to a white woman. However we have gotten a dirvorce,(due to her drinking and drug problem ) and now I have custody of my son. My son looks pure white, hair, eyes everything, and has no traces of black. I first really seriously doubted that he was my son, and thought she cheated on me. But I was wrong, and felt really bad. blood testes were positive i am him the father. What makes me mad is when people tell me he's not my son. I have been harass at the mall, and walmart twice, by a cop and a manager assuming that I was trying to kidnap him. I am regular black, however And it is so annoying when people just say oh, is that your friend son, or is he really your son? no way, hes not yours! I am so really hurt. I am only a 23 years old single parent, and look 19 at that. I was only only 17 when he was born. He is now 6, and I love him with all my heart, could not trade him for all the money in world

I work for my sister and so does my dad. My dad works probably two to four times a month. He brings his dog here, too. I started noticing lately that whenever I sit at the desk my feet and ankle itch and it feels like something is biting me. I started to look closely and notice I had a flea on my foot. So now she has fleas. I am now thinking I have fleas at home because on occasions I feel like my feet are itching but my fiance doesn't ever notice anything. I also have a 2 year old so I don't want the fleas to bother her. How should I handle this? I'm thinking I should first find out for a FACT if I have them at home. Then tell my sister (who is my boss technically) that the fleas need to be gone. But how should I go about it without sounding demanding or rude?

My ex & I have been broken up for 3 months & 1 month after we broke up we found out that she is pregnant. I told her that I would do everything I can to help my ex & support our baby. For a while I have been giving her some money for support & that I have been giving her more money because I still have feelings for her & there would have been hope for us to get back together. But there have been times when we have argued over things like putting her ex's ideas name for my baby, why she won't give us a second chance, refusin help to provide insurance for her and the baby, to why she doesn't love me & why she would rather go back to her ex who has been cheating on while they were together. The final argument didn't involve me & her but with my sister who tried to sum up & ask why are you not giving my bro a chance as he's trying so hard yet is not getting the chance to be involved with the baby. The argument went that far, she blocked me off from myspace & she doesn't answer my calls.

my dad is a good father and i really love him, however he has made some serious mistakes in his life.

he is always telling me how important it is to remain "pure" until marriage (we are of differant denominations, but both of us are christians) he was living with my stepmom for two years before he finally married her. it kinda makes me mad that he feels that the rules only apply to the young and not the old. I just feel like, why should i abstain from sex if he gets to whatever he wants. what do you people think?

i'm always doing stuff for her, like going to the store for her, massaging her neck so her migraine will go away, running errands for her, plus my chores! i have a full time job that sometimes extends past 5 in the afternoon (she gets mad when that happens and says that i should be home and that my boss isn't my parent), i'm 18, and i have a life! she never lets me go anywhere or do anything, and i feel under appreciated and the only reason i'm there is to do stuff for her! whenever i go to my bf's house, she gets mad and says that i need to be at home. she has told me numerous times that she can't wait until i move out, accused me of messing up my car (it overheated and died, water pump was bad, now i don't have a car and she won't let me get it fixed), called me a backstabbing b****, and says i'm lazy and worthless. is she taking advantage of my willingness to overlook how mean she is to me? i have friends who think she does this on purpose. please help!

Last night our friends invited us to a birthday party for their seven year old son, that was being held at a pizza/video arcade. He brought a girl his age along with him, whose parents my wife and I have never met.

While playing pool, I had noticed that someone had left a trinket girls ring on the table, and they never came back to claim it. Since I did not know the girl, or her parents, who was with us, I called the father aside, handed him the ring, and told him why I thought it would be best that the gift come from either his son or he and his wife. Without hesitation he said, "No that's O.K., you give it to her." and called her over, against my pleas. He then told the girl I had a present for her, and, even though I felt extremely uneasy about it, I handed her the ring.

We got into a big argument afterwards. They think we overreacted, we feel you can never be to careful when it comes to children. Parents, I would really like your opinion about this issue.

I am so excited I will be a MOM! However, I feel my family will not be so excited for me. My mother mentioned to me how she felt about her other grandchild. She told me since she only sees her once a month she does not feel close to her at all. She knows I have been going to a fertility clinic and that I am living overseas. It really hurt me. Also, my other family members almost did not include us in her surprise birthday party until the very end. They never told us how it turned out. Nothing! They make comments about our living here being a 'vacation'. They have never called once since I have moved here 6 months ago. However, my mother and one brother has written me a few times. My husband has mentioned to me they seem very selfish and want me to do for them only. He told me I need to move on since they will never be 'happy' for me. I feel very sad that I can't share my life ups and downs with my family.

my husband has custody of our daughter he has had her since she was 6. The mom is in and out of the picture when it is convient for her. when she is around she pumps our daughters head up with all these things she is going to do for her and then never comes through with the promises and we are left to deal with the attitudes, or being withdrawn or just emotional from being let down. we do not want to just go on a mom bashing sessions...because that is her mom and she should love her and her flaws...you only get one mother, but what can we do to help her understand her moms situation without it appearing to be a bashing session and how can we go about telling her mother she is wrong and the effects it has on our daughter when she does that...please help!
