My mom throws away gifts that my siblings and I give her. No matter what it is, she doesn't keep any of them. One time she wanted an outfit and I bought it for her. Paid good money for it too and she gave me a bag of clothes a few months later and that outfit was in there. Some of my siblings have spent hours and hours making her homemade gifts and she throws them away. I bought her a necklace and the other day I mentioned it to her. She played dumb and pretended she didn't know what necklace I was talking about and the minute she said that I knew she had gotten rid of it. We give her these gifts from our hearts and I would never think to throw away anything my children give me. I decided no more gifts for my mother, it's a waste of my money and time. Why would a mother do this?

The problem is: my parents have to sell the apartment we are living in. But I have lived here for the past 17 years (meaning the majority of my childhood). the reason why we have to move is that they (my parents) have to pay a debt before it is too big. I don't like the fact that we have to move, but... I just hate the idea of having to part with this area. close to everywhere i need to go, reasonably priced. plain and simple, a dream.
I DON'T WANNA MOVE! but yet: How can I make it easier?

So this is weird. I haven't seen my Mom since like Xmas time due to me living a distance away. She came up for the day yesterday and I really miss her now. Is this normal lol? I didn't miss her this much before she came over, although I did miss her and stuff.

My son has Aspergers and when he has a bad day everything I say or do he wants the opposite.
eg. (i say) Would you like to read a book with me
(he Says) yes
(then) no!(screaming) I DONT WANT TO READ A BOOK
(so i say) ok then lets do something else
but the whole thing starts again. I have tried giving him time out. I have tried making the descision for him .I have tried not giving him options. I have tried telling him I will not acknowledge him until he talks to me nicely and tells me what he wants. (obviously I dont use all these strategies at once as he would get really confused) !!! thankfully these episode are not often but when they happen they can go on all day and it is extremely stressful and soul destroying. I love him so much. but cannot help him with this situation. Anyone have similar problems and any ideas.?

So my fiance wont stay overnight. Or if he comes late he'll stay till like 2am, wake me up and then go home at 2am!!!!! So I was wondering. He says he does this to keep his nan happy and not ger her moody. (Apparently she hates him staying out all night and having a healthy life of his own.) I was wondering what you guys make of this? Is it her being controlling do you think or is it him just being an a s s ?? He lives with his nana btw and she is perfectly healthy really and has no handicap or need for him there. She just doesn't like being alone at night. Is this fair on me? I don't think so it's like he'd rather sleep with his Nan than me... EW!!!!

I'm a 46-y-o woman with kids of my own. My mother's been the bane of my existence for yrs. She's never respected my or my siblings' boundaries - has a habit of spreading untrue, unsubstantiated gossip amongst us about the others. Three yrs ago, I caught her slandering me when she accidentally hit my speed dial button on her cell. I heard a long conversation about me that was full of lies that betrayed what she'd said to me just an hour before. A long rift followed because she pretended not to know what I was talking about until cornered, then sent a card of apology, but proceeded after to lie to the family about why I was avoiding her. Last week she asked my son to fix her computer. He did, and up pops an e-mail she'd written to one of MY friends, full of malicious lies for no reason. She e-mailed me a brief apology. It started, "I'm sorry for whatever I may have done to upset you.." Am I unreasonable for wanting specific acknowledgements, not just give vague, dismissive apologies?

My boyfriend lost his mother to cancer in January and has avoided the subject and got on with life until recently. He has admitted thinking of her alot and has been very emotional recently. Is it normal to delay grief until 5 months later and what can I do to be there for him and help him through this difficult time?

If you return home early to catch a boy, who in known to have a bad rep, in your daughter's room on the bed with her. With his hand up her blouse. And after kicking him out you forbid her to see him. But you know she has been trying to see him on the sly. While gassing up at the pump, a car pulls up with boys his age. They say they heard on the grapevine what the score was, but they have a beef with him. All that has to be said is "go ahead" and they would beat his a** down. You you say go ahead? Indicate you would approve but don't say yes. Or tell them not to bother the guy?

people tell me to hang in there because of my divorce and it is very draining and very hard to be a single dad who is part mom to my daughter my soon to be ex-wife tells me that she is glad that i have time to spend with our daughter because she doesn't and i keep telling her that you have to make the time not have the time to spend with our daughter. She realy pisses me off when she uses our daughter as a pawn in our battle, you can split the house, and the money, but you can't split the child.................

my little brother is obsessed with sharks. he always watches the movie JAWS every single day when he gets home from school, gets all the kids at school to play jaws, draws sharks all the time, but the most annoying thing that ticks me off to no end is that he is literally ALWAYS humming the jaws theme song. it is sooo frikken annoying! i just wanna smack him. if i say "shut up" he'll say "I know you should shut up" and if i say "you are so stupid" he;ll say "i know you're stupid" u get the point. it drives me up the wall!!! my parents think he's the sweetest thing, but he's a little devil!! and all he can talk about is sharks!! this is even more annoying than video games and dinosaurs and cars and batman his other little hobbies...i have a feeling he'll never get tired of blabbing about sharks. i'm nearly dilirious after another one of his hour long talks about sharks. he wants to make a movie about it but he cant'!! he's 8 years old!! i just wann SCREAM!!!

My sister is 2 years old, and when she cries and yells it's so friggin' annoying, I feel like poking my eardrums out. I try to imitate her, and i start whining like she does, but then my parents get mad and hit me. I try singing out the noise, trying to keep my sanity, but it doesn't work. And every time I try to imitate my sister's whining, my mom is like 'I can't stand it when you do that'. And i tell her 'I can't stand it when SHE does THAT'.. and then she gets angry and takes away my things.. I don't know what to do, I'm going insane! I can't tell her to shut up cause she's only a little kid, but its SO DAMN ANNOYING, it's JUST NOISE. What am I supposed to do???

My grandfather wants a dog, saying he can take care of it, but my mom and I don't think he will be able to. My mom has a problem with her shoulder that is very painful. My grandfather will only allow her to help him at home. She has made it clear she is not able to help him take care of a dog, and will not do so. I am busy with work and school, and honestly I can't stand animal messes, and he probably would not let me help anyway. He insists he can take care of the dog. We think its best to discourage him from getting a dog, rather than my mom, with her own health problems, or me who cannot deal with animal messes, eventually getting stuck taking care of a pet that we did not want. We all live within a few minutes of each other but not in the same house. We also do want Grandpa to overexert himself with the dog, or the dog to be neglected. Before you call us selfish, keep in mind that my mom put her whole life on hold for 2 years to care for him when he was very sick.

What if your elderly father was unable to get to the bathroom because his feet were turning black(you would later find out,it is gange green), while his wife stood and watched as the infection took its toll and you were called to come over to make the decision whether he was to go to the hospital? What if he then became hospitalized and you found out that his infection was costing him his life, because it hadn't been treated fast enough and she was signing his name to his checks without power of attorney, committing forgery, to pay her bills while he laid in the hospital suffering from dementia? Would you take her to court? What if she only went to see your father once a week, and shared the holidays with her grown children while your father was hooked up to an oxygen machine, drugged out of his mind to keep away the pain? Would you try to get her on neglect? What is she was taking a vacation with your father's money? To what extent would you go?
