Well if your under 18 then they have the right to be bossy. Most teenagers think their parents are the worst because they have to follow rules but usually those rules are there for a reason.
If you over 18 and still think your parents are too bossy, then get a job and move out.

Just because they are parents does not mean they have to be bossy. They should be leaders instead. Yes there is a difference. Those who are bossy are punishment oriented, and command with fear (of punishment). Leaders merely make suggestions, rewarding good behavior and explaining why bad behavior should not be engaged in. They don t make demands, merely requests, and that is what makes a good parent.
I m not a parent yet. I still live at home (I m a commuting college student), but my parents are extremely demanding. They don t listen to reason and they constantly ***** about me not having a job even though I have been trying my hardest to get one. They even threaten me with punishment for not having one. Truth be told, I m considering cutting them off as soon as I move out, whenever that happens. I just don t get enough support or respect from them and I want that toxicity out of my life. I guess at least they gave me an example of how NOT to be a parent.

Because it's a parent's job to guide and direct you. You may interpret this as being bossy. It also could be the manner in which they speak to you. Just remember that parents want what's best for their children in all areas of their life. They have lived many years more than you and have the wisdom that comes with age. I saw this after I was older. So have my children. You will, too.

Answer true or false to the following questions: Do you live in THEIR house? Are THEY the ones paying the required expenses (the bills, your tuition, etc)? If your answer to any, and/or all of these are "true," then as long as that's the case, they can do that. As long as that's the case, yes, their power will continue to supercede yours. And your age alone will not emancipate you from this. Pretty much the only way out of this for you is to both move out and live elsewhere, AND support yourself other than on their money. Then, and only then, will their power over you end. Otherwise, as long as this is the case, their power will continue.

Honestly they just want the best for you. My parents were very strict and bossy but as you get older they learn to let go. It might be very slowly but they'll learn. To your mom you'll always be her "baby" so just go with the flow sometimes and smile. : )
