What if your elderly father was unable to get to the bathroom because his feet were turning black(you would later find out,it is gange green), while his wife stood and watched as the infection took its toll and you were called to come over to make the decision whether he was to go to the hospital? What if he then became hospitalized and you found out that his infection was costing him his life, because it hadn't been treated fast enough and she was signing his name to his checks without power of attorney, committing forgery, to pay her bills while he laid in the hospital suffering from dementia? Would you take her to court? What if she only went to see your father once a week, and shared the holidays with her grown children while your father was hooked up to an oxygen machine, drugged out of his mind to keep away the pain? Would you try to get her on neglect? What is she was taking a vacation with your father's money? To what extent would you go?

Lets say she came up to you in the VA and started threatening you and the VA police had to be called and she tried to get you thrown out of there, because you were visiting your father, would you have left? Even if you yourself was a disabled veteran with every right to be there? Lets say she had a hearing for the probate court tomorrow and you never got notification, would you crash and contest the hearing without getting a lawyer because it was after hours when you heard about it? Would you get a restraining order on her after she threatened to kick you off your father's property, and threatened to stuff your a#@ on the curb?

Sounds like an f-ing nightmare. I am so sorry. Definitely follow the below advice and get an attorney ASAP. Who is executer of the will? IF she is then god help you. Speak w/ an attorney and find out what type of re-course you have. If you have none, and she will continue to have her way, then do the best you can to realize that she is evil, but that she will not get to you. You have a right to be angry. Appreciate your father while he is still here. Try not to blame him for marrying such a witch, and do your best to always, always be the bigger person...also, be nice to hospital staff b/c they may be ablto help you when it comes to witnessing the fact that she was never there, and that you are...best wishes.

I'd get a lawyer and get a clear and thorough education about what she is entitled to. Now and after your father is deceased. I wouldn't bother to get a restraining order. She will most certainly get one against you. I would pay a lawyer, and it will not be cheap, and do every single thing he says and no more, no less. You have no rights beyond what the law says are your rights. And she is no more wrong than what the law says is wrong in her case.
You object to her taking a vacation with your father's money? As his wife, I believe she probably shares his financial assets. That may burn your butt but you also need to remember that by marrying someone, you also can have your good credit ruined by their financial mistakes, you can have your life ruined by their gambling debts, etc. Sharing someone's financial situation goes both ways, good and bad.
She signs his checks without power of attorney? Tell me, what does the bank think of this? Are you sure her name is not somewhere on the account?
You can't tell someone how often they have to visit a spouse in the hospital. You can't tell someone how they have to spend their holidays.
In fact, you can be as pissed off as you want to be with your stepmother's behavior (I'm assuming she's a stepmother because you refer to her as your father's 'wife') but the legal aspects of the situation are what they are and your own feelings about the morality of the situation are another matter.
That is why you must talk to a lawyer about the legal aspects. And be aware that it is costly. There aren't any cheap alternatives to knowing the law. Self-education about the legal aspects is limited to reading and in any event, you never want to act as your own lawyer. Don't act as your own physician, either - it makes as much sense...

You should call your local police department and report this. If they do not do anything call the TBI or FBI contact someone higher than your local police if they do not act. If they do not help you and you can not afford a lawyer contact your local news if the situation is bad enough they will sometime step in and help But whatever you do report thi. Tell the police dept if they do not act you will contact the news and they will do something. Your local police department should have a domestic abuse number ask for it and report this. Contact your DA office. Sue her personally also. I'm sorry for you and your father. Good luck in prosecuting that women.

there is a 1-800 number that you can get from the local nursing home that will put you in touch with state authorities for reporting abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly and infirmed,,,,,get that number and call,,,,report the circumstances And get a lawyer right away,,,,You should be able to have her removed as durable power of attorney,,, See if you can get restraining order or supervised visits on ly,,, contact the bank and see if you can close accounts Sounds like she is just waiting for him to die, and doing what she can to speed things up,,,,,Press whatever charges you can,,,,State does not look kindly on exploitation of the elderly

I would be working with the states attorney to prosecute her butt off . good luck and god bless you .

Call a lawyer, NOW! She obviously doesn't give a **** about your dad, just his money. I'm sorry for what she has put your family through. Remember, what goes around, comes around.

i would get a lawyer fast and let him advise what and how to get things done. have the doctors talked about amputation on his legs? i had a sore on my foot that would not heal so i opted to have it amputated and i feel 100% bbetter. i would talk to the doctors and see what he says. i would do everything that is legal to get the best care for my dad, just be sure and do it legally so it does not blow up in your face. i will pray that things goes well for you and your family.

put the lying thieving wh*** in jail. no one deserves that treatment, especially from a spouse. as his children, you need to take care of him, it isn't about the money at this point, it is about his quality of life. although the money is important, take care of dad first.
best of luck getting your dad as healthy as possible and putting the b***h in jail.
