Family - June 2007

My brother(my kid's uncle) is verbally mean to my kids. He's not physically mean to them, and they've never been left alone with them. He just says mean things and he's an adult!!! He is married but doesn't have kids of his own. He says things to my 10 yr old son that are degrading to his physical body (he's overweight), or he'll tell him "I'm not gonna come visit you in jail when you get there".

Anyone have a similar problem.

What should I do about it? I never say anything to him. We just try and leave quickly and try to avoid him.

He's not all bad. He's an ok guy to me and he's always been a good brother. I just think he has some jealousy issues or anger issues.

i get picked on alot.even though school is out.I still get name called and beat up. i want to tell my mom but i am afraid that she will get these kids in troble and then i get hurt even worse.

i started this diary at 11 and I was very depressed back then so i wrote down every little detail...about my sister (we never got a long), my fathers death, dreams I had of my father (after he died), boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, ect...Anyway my boyfriend found it and started reading it and now he wants me to burn it because he thinks it is going to make me depressed again but the problem is that i don't want to because i have a bad memory and if i do burn it I'm scared i might forget everything..my memory loss is pretty bad sometimes i forget my sons name...so what do i do??

I am a 23 yr old ,married woman with six yr old daughter. About a month ago I let my mother come and live with me. My step father died in August and times have been hard on her since. The problem is my mother is driving me and my husband crazy. There is no smoking in my house so she is constantly going in and out. She is on the phone till all hours at night and she is constantly asking for money. I let her come live with me so she could find a job and save so she could get back on her feet. She goes job hunting one day a week (if that). What can I do light a fire under her so that we can all put this difficult situation behind us??? Because if this keeps going the way it is my might lose my mind!!!!

ok so i have alot of friends that are of different races, and my dad totally hates it, but hes always like you always go and hang out with them and you never brings your friends here, and he thinks i am messin around with them which i would never do, i try to stand up to my dad, but he just gets pissed and walks away what should i do? the reason i won't bring them around is cuz he makes racist remarks all the time, and i do not want to lose friends over that, i love my friends to death and i will protect them as much as possible. so you people who think whites are all racist, take a look at me i'm not.

Even go as far as telling daughter's boyfriend she doesn't see how he thinks her daughter is beautiful and he should see her other daughter who IS pretty.............Why would she speak about her child this way?

I took custody of my 12 yr old son last july, when his mother no longer wanted him to live with her and the new family.

We were not married and in fact never lived together, however from the day of his birth, i gladly paid monthly maintenance...paid for clothes..haircuts..etc etc

He has always spent a lot of time with me,even after his mother moved him first 52 miles a way then 200 miles away..

At this time she refuses to pay me any maintenance, wont buy even the smallest of items he needs like school uniform...

she says she doesn't work but in fact runs a livery stable...keeps 6 horses of her own, a yacht etc has 3 vehicles.

she has told the csa all money is her husbands and so they have rated her as zero contributions..and refuse to look into/investigate her lifestyle....

What can i do to force her to contribute to my son's upkeep...i dont want the money for me but for him.

look, im living with my druged up mother and all her friends r on heaps of drugs and she screams at me and she smashed my mouth on a sink coz i couldnt turn on tap wen i was 10, btw im almost 14, my dad is trying 2 get me 2 live with him and now im emo and i told him and he doesnt really respect me how i am like he stoped me looking up emo stuff on computer by putting K9 protection on and i cant play imvu wich helps me, and i donno wot 2 do, oh yeah im really unhappy at my school so yeah

My borther is currently 22 years old, and he's unemployment. He had a several jobs, but it never lasted for long. He either quit or for some other reason. He doesn't live with my family anymore and move out at 18 since my dad and him doesn't get along...my dad is his step dad. Now he's living on his own and still don't want to get a job. Even though he doesn't live in our hosue anymore, he still comes for help and finacial support. My parents searches job for him, and he said that he'll take it but when it comes to that day, he bail out. He just doesn't want to work and going to parties. How can I help him get things straight? I'm his younger sister who's 18. My parents..actually my mom and I since my dad doesn't care anymore, can't competly ingore him and wait till he finally changes, or else he'll get deeper into the mud and it'll be harder to pull him out. Now that's only one situation that I'll mention.

I'm going to my friend birthday party this weekend and it's celebrate at the beach. I'm just going to go there in the afternoon till around 7pm. I asked him earlier and he said yes, now a few days later he change his mind and said "No, I won't let you go." What! He said that who on earth would have their birthday at the beach...and plus it's too dangerous. We had an argument about this....when ever I try to tell him that I'll be find and that he needs to trust me...yet he wouldn't let me go. What should I do? I'm almost 19 already.

my parents both came from Vietnam, trying to escape during the war. they met in california and married. they now have 5 children (including me). we are a lower class working family and my parents work from like 8 am to 10 pm (mom and dad). i do not see my parents a lot and are usually alone. my parents are always fighting and sometimes my dad is violent. i wish they would stop fighting but i do not know what to do. my mom says that she doesn't love my dad anymore and wants to get a divorce. i barely see my dad though because he is always at work. after work he hangs out at a restaurant with his friends and does not come home. my mom gets very upset and is stressed a lot from the work she has to do. they are not proud of their children. the oldest dropped out of high school and is gay. he has a job but is in credit card debt for spending irresponsibly. the 2nd oldest brother is also a high school drop out, loner, no friends, bad hygeine, internet addict, depressed and irresponsible.

and not even let her go to visit her grandmother?

This is the situation my 14 year old cousin is in because her mother let her get her hair dyed (not even that drastically) knowing that her father would not approve. She only has red streaks throughout her hair, and it's actually rather pretty.

Her dad says "Its not the hair that bothers me, it's the principle of it." But doesn't the punishment of total banishment from friends or anything she wants to do seem a little drastic, esp. during summer? The father and daughter already have a strained relationship and I fear for how this might turn out.

I'm 26,single, and I have a career that I hate. I want to continue my education, but it requires a move across the country. I am an only child of a single parent. My mom is 64, depressed and has bad diabetes. I feel guilty moving so far across the counry, but the programs I'm looking for are not available in my part of the country. Should I stay to take care of my mom, or go on and go back to school?

I have decided to end things with my boyfriend for various reasons, i.e. he goes out drinking most of the week and when he is at home he's drinking, meanwhile we can't pay rent and we have a one year old.
