I took custody of my 12 yr old son last july, when his mother no longer wanted him to live with her and the new family.

We were not married and in fact never lived together, however from the day of his birth, i gladly paid monthly maintenance...paid for clothes..haircuts..etc etc

He has always spent a lot of time with me,even after his mother moved him first 52 miles a way then 200 miles away..

At this time she refuses to pay me any maintenance, wont buy even the smallest of items he needs like school uniform...

she says she doesn't work but in fact runs a livery stable...keeps 6 horses of her own, a yacht etc has 3 vehicles.

she has told the csa all money is her husbands and so they have rated her as zero contributions..and refuse to look into/investigate her lifestyle....

What can i do to force her to contribute to my son's upkeep...i dont want the money for me but for him.

Yes you can. Go to the citizens advice and they will point you in the right direct. Make sure your claiming child allowance, if she is still claiming you can have her for fraud. Seek legal advice NOW. This now works both ways.

Many states are no longer viewing gender as an issue in child support. If she is working at or owns a livery stable then their is the possiblity of records somewhere and you can try and submit it as documentation to CSA. You might have to sue and open up the issues in a court in front of a judge. Many organizations looking after a childs interest fail to check out details. My sister lost custody of her child to her ex and she was required to pay child support despite not working. She still had to pay it.

CSA only seem interested in chasing cases when the other parent is on benefits, which means they chase the absent parent because any money owed is payed back to the government. I assume neither of you are on benefits which gives you little chance of them actually following up your case. If they have accepted the fact your ex has no money and her partner is the purse holder then i'm afraid you're probably fighting a losing battle.

I am afraid there is nothing you can do since the government has already rated her at zero contributions and they have refused to investigate her lifestyle that means that you have sole responsibility and yes that sucks but if the money is all her husbands then she is not obligated to pay because he is not the father of the boy . sorry and yes it does not seem fair but they have already made up their minds . good luck to you and your son .

you'll be lucky to see a penny I'm afraid, the courts are heavily favoured in the woman's favour and they will play the sexism card if men attempt to re-dress the balance.

Best you can go is to get the CSA to check the title deeds on the livery stable

you could take her to a court and you can make the judge give you maintenance! but think about it are you better off not having the maintenance and get on without her and the family in your life. in my opinion i wouldn't get the maintrenance off her because i've spent he last 9 years without my father and i ended up fine i have a way better life then i did when i was with him..

what a selfish woman why did she give birth to your son if she obviously doesn't care about him. I would go to see a solicitor and try and get as much as you can from her after all she is his "mother" she should contribute. how lucky your son is to have you to live with rather than her.

I'm not sure if theres anything you can do which is sh**ty as the authorities are quick to jump on an unpaying father. She doesn't deserve any contact with your son.
