In this world the relation of both parents is the only unselfish and selfless relation. Rest all realtions demand. If a mother is calling her daughter ugly that may be because of two reasons - 1. She want her daughter to be on right track and negative scollding is the way she finds best. 2. She herself must be suffering from some insecurity or negativity. in this case the daughter should take the initiative and talk to her mother and solve the problem. Take small course in meditation and modify the negative behaviour of other person. You can learn a simplified method at gopaadhussa.blogspot.com where I've explained a Jose Silva method (Even I do practice it)

Maybe because she somehow favors the other daughter more, or knows that the "ugly" can handle her words and that the more "pretty" daughter sometimes has low self-esteem and needs a boost from her mother. Heres a question. If that mother said that her daughter was ugly and wonders how she even could get a boyfriend, did she even think about why her Bf picked her in the first place over her "prettier" sister? I bet she has a great personality and characteristics.

Her mother is clearly jealous of her. There must not be much vibe in this mother-daughter relationship because neither is happy. It's not fair and it's not right. My mother is very competitive with me. Everything I get, she has to get. Everytime I do something she has to do it to. I have just come to realize my mom doesn't want to let me go so she thinks she needs to "fit in" and do everything I like to do. Her mother is also playing favorites probably because she is upset at something her daughter did. It's not the daughter's fault. My best advice is to keep the boyfriends and friends away and get out of the house as soon as she can. If not, she is going to be scarred for life. Nobody wants their mom to be so cruel to them.

Some mothers are just mean - pure and simple. No matter what she's going through in her life, there's no excuse. And I don't buy the explanation of stress or low self-esteem or anything else - there is simply no excuse for this. It's called verbal abuse and your mom is a terrible mother! Keep your head up, though, because you're a strong person and this will not break you!

Mayb she finds u too pretty for her to describe u that why she finds ugly is the most suitable way to describe u. She's not a good mother cos a good mother will always say her child is beautiful even though he or she is really ugly.

No clue why a mother would say that except for the fact that the mother is insecure about her own looks.
Unfortunately when a mother says something like this to her own child, the child carries this with her FOREVER in her head. It's like a tape that keeps playing over and over again.
Parents need to learn to NEVER degrade a child's self-esteem.

not a very good mom thats for sure. I am more likely to feel the mother is jealous of the one she calls ugly-she apparently has other attributes that she is jealous of-like smart or something similar. Jealously would be the biggest issue I think but I don't have much respect for a mother who does this though. she has problems and needs counseling.

Obviously this mother has a favourite daughter. It saddened me when this happened. Comments like "ugly" is very degrading and could affect her self-esteem. I hope this daughter is okay today. May God Bless.

She's no mother. And there's a lot like her out there. Imagine what that must be doing to her daughter's self esteem.
