my eldest has just been told she has a d h d, but ant been put on med yet?

is there any think eles i can do to stop her sudden out bursts as i have 3 other kids at home, whom when she kicks of get scared,

Does the doctor plan to put your daughter on medication? have you asked the doctor about his medical care plan for your daughter?

educating yourself about the illness would help YOU and your daughter. there are a lot of resources on the web... i've found a few websites for you, listed below.

is it add,or adhd,does she have reading n writing problems,depression,ocd,how old is she,is she at school or college,what is she like most off the time?????????,is she add active or passive??,there are numerous drugs that might be able too help,but have there own side effects too them,if she is adhd,then cutting out e numbers,chemicals in food,hairsprays,shampoo's,going organic as possible,has anyone else in the family got it,and are you sure this is what she has?,if you go too www.addforums.com they have loads off info on there,if you have any trouble getting on there do not hesitate too contact me,generally ppl with add or adhd do not attack their siblings,unless provoked in some way where they are being teased in some way,im not saying they wont but is not generally the rule,get more tests done on her,to see what it is,hope this helps you in some way,also what does she like doing,does she have any obsessions with anything particular,check on ocd too,

Meds aren't always the answer. Sometimes counseling can help drastically. Sometimes both are needed, but meds by themselves are rarely the final solution.

AHD.....attention defecit disorder.......please do not worry too much...it is a common syndrome nowadays....why has your gp not prescibed medication to help her ? I suggest you contact them and get this done now. Do not be aftraid to contact free anonymous helplines...eg parentline.....go online to find these free helplines in meantime.You could join a group (parents) of sufferers of AHD. But please contact gp asap.
