Ok me and my boyfriend are thinking of getting engaged before we buy the ring. he and i are both 18 years old but hes just starting out with california department of forestry.....a firefighter if your not familiar with that kind of stuff. hes gonna propose to me but we both dont think our parents would be too supportive with it right yet cause december 4th was our 3 month mark. but the story is that his parents were engaged and married after 3 months, so we think his parents would be okay with it. now my parents not so much, but just to be safe we dont wanna tell the right yet. so he proposes to me and when the time is right he does it again in front of the family. But b/c our we arent sure of our families's reaction we cant really ask them things without questioning, and arguements and such, so i was wondering if anyone knew a few things that they could tell us. when he proposes, what finger does it go on? when we get married does the ring hand change? wuts the importance and diff....

We have been married for 5 1/2 years. We have a beautiful 2 year old son together. I come from a very religious family who frowns on divorce. I would like to make the marriage work for my son's sake. My husband yells at me for every little thing. If I am not doing something fast enough for him he yells at me. If I say something wrong by accident he talks to me in a mean voice and insults me. He has been physically abusive to me in the past. He has shoved me, hit me, punched me, put his hands around my neck, twisted my arms and thrown me down. He hasn't beaten me though. He has never done all of these things at the same time and I have not suffered any bruises. He hasn't done anything physically abusive to me in about a year now. He continues to be verbally abusive to me though. He cusses a lot and insults me. I can't talk to him about concerns without him getting mad at me. My husband has said he would change, but has yet to do it. What should I do? I don't yell or cuss at him.

My new girlfriend and I have been going out for about four and a half months.
She seemed like the perfect girl..really nice, takes care of herself (very beautiful), no children, educated, and from a nice family.
Even though we took everything slow..we seemed to fall for each other fast. Our parents even had a cookout together this summer.
THEN the relationship became physical...it was perfect. I had never felt so attracted to my lover, and satisfied. About a week and a half ago- she dropped a real bomb.
I know she just said this to share everything with me, but it still hurts. She told me she had sexually been with over 50 men(this is just the full intercourse number- she don't remember oral/other).She said she was wild in high school, and college (she's now 27).
My whole image of her is blown, and I don't find myself wanting to be with, or attracted to her anymore.She doesn't know whats wrong.Is it the fair thing to just break up, this has changed my feelings for her?

i heard my parents fighting a few hours ago, and i am not so sure what it was about, but he said "its over, we're through", and then they were fighting about who i will stay with when they get a divorce. then a few minutes later, he told my mom he's leaving(hes drunk,), and she took his keys, and he had one hiding w/ him and he left at about 7:00, now it's going on 9:00. he told her he'll call her tomorrow, and he came into my room and told me he loves me and he left. my mom doesn't want to call the cops, and i'm afraid he gets killed or worse. right now, if he were to come back, i would ignore him. i hate him right now. i told my mom about it and she told me when he calls to tell him i love him...but its not how I FEEL. i want to make him feel bad for leaving me and my mom, him being drunk, me being scared, and leaving me and my mom here to cry. i'm only thirteen years old and i don't konw how to deal w/ this. please help me. :/

My bf and I have been together for 4 years..living together for 2...I am ready to move to the next step and have told him this..I am 35,divorced, have 3 kids(he has none and knows I cannot have anymore). I am a professional nurse..own my own home and am financially responsible. He is great with my kids.. I have heard many times from him that "we will get married someday"..I want an engagement ring..Want some kind of definate commitment from him..He was engaged before,and owned a house with his ex, but she cheated on him and they broke up(she got the house). I can understand him being afraid..but I have been loyal, loving and supportive of him..How can I get "the ring" that I want so bad?? Now for the past few months i have been doing this musical in my Musical thea. class and there is tis really great girl in the class she is playing the lead. She is cute smart nice talented down to earth and she has a great personality. What are your thoughts on attraction? Is it purely physical at the beginning. Do you have to begin with attraction or can it be developed over time? I think emotional and spiritual attraction keep us in love and is what makes strong relationships. Appreciating how lucky I am to have my spouse makes me think of her as sexier? What is it that attracts you to your spouse besides physical appearance? Also Why dose attraction sometimes fade? What makes it fade? Lastly, what prevents it from fading?

Here are princesses who wait 2 years to be married because they want personalized German chocolate favors and the Archbishop of Canterbury to officiate.
Here are creatures who ask me to bring a dish to their holiday party because they can't afford to buy cheese and they don't want people in their apt if the food isn't fancy.
Is anyone embarassed to spend 2 years requiring your friends to bring their own food so that you can watch a bunch of strangers eat lobster?

My husband last year before his accident had gone to the bar with his buddies from work, i didnt mind until he started inviting his ex-fiance too. Well a whole big thing started between me and her cause she was out of his life for 5 years and then decided to come back in after relizing she had made a big mistake of letting him go and he promised me to leave her out of his life forever then he started talking to her again behind my back and I found out again from him makin a separate email account just for her and seeing her alone...well anyway, he hasnt gone to the bar since his accident (10 months ago) and I keep thinking, is she gonna be there, and I dont know how to get that out of my mind. She even has a job right down the road from where we live. How do I get her to leave him alone and get a life? And how do I get him to get over her? Should I worry with him going to the bar and maybe getting things started again with him and his ex? Or should I just see what happens? Help :(

Not only that, we are both in the same field and our professional paths cross. He is acting like he just me. Not only that, he doesn't want people to know we are dating. I feel like we have nothing to hide. Should I come clean to others that we are involved or just go along with the flow of his "just professional colleagues" stance? My opinion is that because we both have big networks of mutual colleagues, it's going to come out anyway.

hi all,
