My best friend recently got engaged to my brother in law. they were only together 2 weeks and then he disappeared and had no contact with anyone. the moment he comes back, he proposes and she says yes. i dont believe they are ready for marriage and i am so against these joke marriages where people do it just to do it. she wants me involved...but should i be involved despite my beliefs?

I'm being picked up for a second date at my house and since I live at home, my parents will likely be there. My Mom thinks I should let my date meet my Dad, but, yeah, I'm scared that he's going to be totally freaked out.

I'm 23 (yeah yeah, I know I need to move out. I moved back home to give myself a year to save for a house) so I already feel like a baby.

i need help with my boyfriend. we have been together just over 9 months but he is becomin slightly agressive with me and were not as close as we used to be. we were extremley close just befor the summer and when he went away for 3 weeks i missed him like crazy. wen he came back he started to be aggressive as in physicly hurts me by hitting me and tripping me up. he as also called me fat
Yesterday he was doing this then i sed i wanted to sit down so he told me to sit on a log and sed "or are you too bit to sit on it" i then replied are you callin me fat now and walked off.he ran after me but never denied calling me fat. this is not the first time he has called me sumthing like this. any help?

Just got back to grad school, and this girl in my class has really been working my nerve. She is really controll and manipulative. Last year we were like friends, but after I realize she seemed to be having too much fun putting me down,- I distance myself from her. She inturn became buddy buddy with this other mutual friend of ours. Since we have been back, she has become super jealous whenever she sees the other girl and I talking. She was even really rude to me on one occasion- So I just ignored her. Now- she is distancing herself from me (which I don't really mind). My question is, should I just ignore her, or still be nice to her and keep her at a distance?

We all probably have had this a million times but. I met a guy online 3 years ago and we have talked very open and freely since then I knew he was married and he knew I was in a bad relationship we were able to talk. Well very recently I got a phone call saying he wasnt gonna be around for awhile due to changing jobs. Then one night I was sitting here and his wife pops in and we talked well we decide to get together the next day to meet in person and since then we have done a few things together. Well this is where my problems start since is job has taken him away from home is wife has been pushing him away and I see this for myself right now he needs us to be strong for him so he can make it though this all so I have been on the phone day and night talking about everything then last night he tells me I have a confession and he says I am falling in LOVE with you and to be honest I am also the only thing he is to his wife is a paycheck! I really dont know what to do I really love him

We are supose to get married and he's done alot to hurt me, he betrade me in so many ways. he cheated and I know I can't change the past but I don't know how to move on from it, I can't get past it, I can't forgive him and I can't forgive myself. If I didn't love him then I wouldn't want to marry him, I can't seem to get that through him. How can I forgive myself to forgive him. He's my rock,someone I thought I could turn to anytime and now I feel like I can't turn to him, everytime I try, it's a fight. I can't tell him what bothers me or what I need. My ex and I have been off and on for a little over a year now. We are currently broken up and have had a lot of drama over the last week. Their are some things about me that she would like to see me change. When I ask her about getting back together she says that she doesn't want to "right now". She also says that getting back together depends on me and that she is not going to wait forever, which from what I gather is her way of saying that when she is ready to be in another relationship I should have myself together by that time or she will move on for good. She also says that she can't guarantee that she will eventually want to get back together with me, and I could be wrong but I take that to mean that she has no guarantee that I will change so she can't guarantee getting back together with me. I know a lot of times with women yuo sometimes have to read between the lines. Does it sound like she wants to get back together eventually, granted that I make the necessary changes ?

My girlfriend of several months is currently in jail. She violated the terms of her house arrest. Which she was on because she took a wrap for a friend, who turned out to be a jerk. Anyways, she has made plans to turn her life around. She is not returning to her job, as a stripper, when she gets out. She is turning away from her bad influence friends, which will leave her about 2 friends. Her family is all screwed up, so they won't be around to lend her support. She has made it clear to me that she don't want me to help her with money, as I am her boyfriend, not some random customer. She plans on getting a cheap 2 bedroom apartment, for her and her son, and working a regular job while going to school. And she plans on being a church regular. All this sounds good, but I don't see how it can work. Plus her son is used to getting everything he wants. She will be on a very fixed income, probally have to move to a bad part of town. I have the extra money, should I insist on helping her?

I would like to know how fathers who claim to love their children can just walk away? I don't want to hear excusses on them not getting along with the mothers. I want honest answers. My father's grandfather was born and raised in afghanistan. he then moved to Pakistan and met my Fathers grandmother. the two of them had MY grandfather in pakistan and then from there my dad was born..in pakistan . but technically my dad has afghan in him . so does that make me part afghan ? my mother is also pakistani . My ex husband has a new gf who likes to call and talk with our children. She and I have gotten acquainted, and now she wants to talk regularly to me. My ex was abusive to me, but mostly to my children. Living with him was like prison. I told her this and even though she has young children, she wishes to continue the relationship. She has even admitted to noticing warning signs of abuse with him.She thinks she can 'handle him' better than I did because I am more quiet than she, and that he will never be abusive with them.
My problem is that, she is very nice, but often times shares things about their sex life or compares us in alot of areas...I dont want to think about him at all and esp. dont want to know about their sex life. Everyday she calls more and more, what should I do?

me and my bf both know this girl... he knows her better than i do as i only met her a couple of times and only know her through him.

well, today i found an old phone bill of his dating back 3 months ago (from his mobile phone)! I noticed that on this bill he had texted this girl every single day for one whole month (some of the texts being in the early hours of the morning when i know he was working night shifts!)

I'm not sure if he's still texting her now, but his phone rarely goes off anymore so i doubt that he is! I confronted him about the texts and he replied what's wrong with texting a friend?" and then told me i'm going weird and being silly.

Do you think it's something i should mention to him again? Is it something i should kick up a fuss about because i don't like it?

I am writing a book about parents, children, and other family. The stablilty of the family unit and like wise. can you truely talk to you parents? I personally Can't, whenever my parents know something about me they disapprove of they make fun of me, and never let it go. making it hard for me to be truely open with them. Theyre niether helpful or in ANYWAY encouraging. they may say they are, but they dont show it. So can you talk to your parents, why or why not?

Ok...there is this girl. I consider her my "friend"...I'm not that close to her, but we talk pretty often, and she emails me a million times a day. lol. Here's the problem. She's a jealous, backstabbing and rude person. For example, if I get a certain cd, she runs out to the store the minute she hears I got it and gets it. When I talk to my boyfriend who she likes, she gets all jealous and comes over, pushes me out of the way and starts talking to him. She's always acting like he's gonna dump me and go out with her just because she's jealous of us. And she's always making rude remarks. She talks about other friends of mine behind their backs, and I don't like it. Her parents don't do anything about it, even though they know what she does and how she acts. The only reason I consider her my "friend" is because she confided in me one time, and I feel like I need to help her. What should I do? Should I talk to her? HELP!!!!!!!!!! Thanks. Oh yeah...I'm 16 and she's 13.

ok this is going 2 be longwinded i'm sorry. My husband is depressed at the moment and we have had a few problems but one thing that's come out is that the last 3 years he's been telling me he's quit smoking but he's been smokin @ wrk and i've been askin but he kept lyin n we both quit because i was pregnant. He's now smoking all the time and i hate it i h8 the way he smells his breath is rank although he doesn't come near me or the kids 4 half an hour after he still smells and i can't stand his fingers near me 'cos they smell 2 and i can't help but think of them as dirty. He did want to leave and i didn't want him 2 but we decided to try again but i'm finding it increasingly difficult to deal with i'm sorry if i offend any smokers or come across as horrible but this is a big thing for me i love him n i don't want to lose him but on the other hand we have no sex life no money cos we already used up every penny of our money and i'm allways lukin after the kids on my own wot shud i do?

I am currently in the process of filing for divorce. My husband tried the first time and was missing some paperwork. I spoke to a lawyer and was told that the papers have to be filed in the county where the defendent lives. Does this make sense? Anyone else heard this? I'd really like some help understanding why this is...it is hard enough already...WITHOUT being so confused and having to do it multiple times!
