My boyfriend and I have lived together for almost one year now, we share a daughter who is also almost one year. I was against cohabitation but due to suprise pregnancy I figured that it was more important that my child have both her parents in the same household. We spoke of marriage when I found out, but everytime he says he's not ready and puts off any conversation about it. Now, I am a smart woman and I have a great deal of respect for myself. In my opinion, I think I should take him at his word- no matter how much he claims he loves me he just doesn't want to marry me-yet? Well, I'm tired of everyone asking me when we are getting married and he has that stupid look on his face like don't go there. I am a pretty smoking catch if I do say so myself. SO, I know if I don't get a proposal by the year's end or sooner I am going to move out. My only hesitation is my daughter. She LOVES her Dad and I love the whole family thing we've got going. Am I hurting her more if I leave?

You know a woman with an even temperment, who was not totally estrogen driven, that you could resolve a problem with in a mature manner?

Or are all women hormonal nut cases?

Would love answers from all age groups so please state your age and # of children. I have a myspace page and so does my daughter, I went to go read her page today and she covered the screen and said, "why do YOU have to read it?!?" She has always been like this and I assumed it was because she has something to hide that she is embarrassed about. BUT she knows that I already know about her, and after I read it, THERE WAS NOTHING to hide, and all she said was that she was embarrassed about cursing and that's why!!! I already know about that and way way more so what is the problem? Why does she post something for EVERYONE TO READ but then doesn't want ME to read it? SHE has always been like this....it's like she doesn't want to share her life with me. :( I already know how teens are and I wouldn't be shocked about anything and she knows that! She also KNOWS that she wouldn't get "in trouble" for anything. Question for adults: Talk to me about how much privacy you think a teen should have.

The girl I have dated for the past 4 years broke up with me about 2 months ago, she said she wanted to stay friends and all. But latley I get the feeling her boyfriend is telling her not to talk to me, because all of a sudden she won't answer my calls, emails of myspace messeges. She won't even look at me when she is around me, she just...avoids me... What the heck is going on, is she just pulling away, or what is it?

my husband is a truly wonderful person extemely loving and affectionate and will do anything to please me. however, at times i feel frustrated by our cultural and intellectual differences. i am american and am currently in college with a strong inclination toward the pursuit of knowledge, while my husband is israeli with a limited knowledge of the american lifestyle and ways of getting around. he has only been here six months, speaks a pretty decent english (having learnt it before) and is certainly attempting to learn more. however what do i do with the frustrations of always having to coach him and teach him everything that is so basic to me which feels like im teaching a five year old. i want to feel like he can take care of me rather me of him. its hard to be so patient all the time and to have to explain to him what i expect as an american girl such as a birthday gift and to be taken out...he is a wonderful husband though, really decent man, and i know hell be a wonderful father

gave us a check, wrote the wrong last name for us and didn't sign the check. She's a sorority sister of mine so she's no stranger, however, I do feel uncomfortable about telling her her mistake. My mother said she can handle it. I just think me telling her is kind of bad taste. What is the proper protocol for something like this?

What would be a better instituition than marriage between 2 people?

Any ideas?
Why does the law not support polygamy?
I am interested in several husbands and sister wives, but the law won't allow it.

I think it would be fun.

For my wedding I want to have a professional do my make-up, but do they use their own colors, or do the use your make-up? For my graduation pictures I had my make-up done at glamor shots and I didn't like it cuz it just wasn't me. I'm afraid it will be the same way for my wedding day. What did you do or plan on doing?

My fiance (we are getting married in two weeks) told me the other night that he is not as attracted to me since I gained weight (about 80 pounds) in the last 5 years of our relationship. He told me he still loves me and knows that if I lose some weight he will be more attracted to me and he feels that our relationship will be better because I will be more confident in myself. He says that he will stay with me even if I don't lose any weight because he loves me, he just wanted to tell me that before we get married in two weeks. What are your feelings on this?

I had a friend for a long time, then we started dating in college, then she became a sorority girl and began cheating, so everything sort of fell apart. We don't speak much anymore unless we end up meeting through mutual friends.
She's getting married in a couple of months, and I've refused to go to the wedding. Everyone thinks it's because I'm bitter we broke up, but I don't want to go because I really don't approve of the wedding. She's been engaged to the guy longer than they've dated/known each other. He's nice and smart and seems decent (he has a great job for 24), but he's wet behind the ears in more ways than one (he was a virgin before he met my ex/his fiance, for example).
I feel like this marriage might be doomed from the starting block, but I've yet to voice my concerns. Is this something I should bring up? Am I obligated to tell her the truth? Or should I let the happy couple stroll down the aisle?

Ok if you have read my previous question than you know why I called her crazy. She and my Dad are divorced (she wanted the divorce cuz she was having an affair at work), yadda yadda yadda. It's a long story. Ok so anyways, they are divorced but my Dad keeps taking her back, it's like he's rather be w/ someone that treats him like crap then be w/ no one at all. Well that's their problem, but my problem comes in that he will come over with her, sometimes just drop in unexpectedly and it makes me mad. See I think she likes my husband or something becuz she always stares at him. Not just a casual look or something like that, plain out, don't care if anyone notices, stares at him. And I've caught my husband staring back at her on occassion too. I got into a fight about it w/ my husband once and he got all mad and told me I was imagining things but if that's what I thought then what he will do when they come over is just stay in the bedroom and not come out. He did this last time....

Does remaining in a committed relationship let the couple define their relationship how they want it and realize everyday that you're there because you WANT to be there rather than because a piece of paper (a marriage license) says so.

Or is marriage sacred and is the ultimate expression of love between two people?

This isn't about deep commitment phobia but people who have chosen to remain life partners rather than actually doing the aisle walk....

My sister and I are 2 years apart. She is 17 and I am 15. For the past year she has been a complete jerk to my parents and myself. Now, she spends her entire time with her boyfriend, is never at home and is always lying to my parents. Because she is never home I get stuck doing all the chores. She lies to my parents about where she is going with her boyfriend. Also, she never follow their rules. She hardly ever is home by curfew and when my parents put her on restriction she simply doesn't care. Almost every day she will tell my parents that she and her boyfriend are going "fishing" but really they are having sex at his house. It makes me so mad that she gets away with all of this. Also, she is so mean to me. I often will invite her to go to the lake or river and she gets mean and never wants to go. We used to be really close and got along but now it has all changed. Is there anything I can do? I have tried talking to my parents but nothing seems to work?

My wife has returned from work (she is a cleaner) and I have spent the day at home (working on my pc).

She is now in front of me (yes, right now) cleaning the floor on her hands and knees in her night clothes.

Part of me is happy that the training has paid of, whilst another part thinks she should get me another beer.

How do I approach this without wearing the beer?

Also, she hasn't finished yet and has missed a few bits.

It's quite a dilema

I've been involved with my boyfriend for about 17 months now, and my mother will NOT back off. I had to go through a very serious personal experience, and ever since then, my mom has been talking my boyfriend down, saying that I need something better, etc., etc. Now if this were anyone else, I'd be like forget you, I love him, but it's my mother and I have to have her approval. So I'm just so confused. What should I say to her? How can I say it without totally dismissing her opinion? How can I get my boyfriend to stop hating her for doing this to him? Help!

My fiance and I are getting married in two months. His parents were only asked to pay for booze and the rehearsal dinner. Keep in mind, its not even a lot of booze, it was only 2 kegs, and maybe some wine. They started saying all of this stuff about not wanting to pay for it, and also started questioning out motives for getting married in the first place (just to hit us where it hurt) Along with calling me a slut, and saying we dont deserve a good wedding to begin with.

After hearing all this, me and my fiance came to the conclusion that we didnt want their help with the wedding at all. We would rather come up with the money ourselves, then accept help from his parents when they are being so rude and difficult. However, as soon as we told them not to worry about it anymore, they threw a huge fit about how they were looking forward to it, and tried to make us feel bad for acting like such monsters!

Were we justified in turning away their help? What would you do?
