I think when you been married ... even though the divorce was inevitable, some depression is expected, I mean I had been depressed, than once I got over the depression then I began reliving...... I hope that you found that helpful for you

Well, I don't know a lot of people who are divorced, but it seems to vary, depending on the person, I suppose. One cannot assign depression or happiness to an event in one's life. People who are generally happy or who view life from a more positive perspective are relatively happy regardless of the circumstances, because the circumstances do not define one's happiness. Happiness is a product of one's own choice, not a condition of circumstance. The same goes for people who suffer from depression, although there are medical reasons for depression that go beyond feelings.
However, from my own personal divorce experience, I have have been much happier after divorcing my wife, primarily because she was one who was and will be eternally depressed, regardless of how wonderful things are, and this in itself puts a great deal of pressure on the other person's frame of mind.
It would also depend on the circumstances of the divorce. If you were madly in love with your spouse, and they dumped you for someone else, or cheated on you, etc., than I suppose this would make you feel less happy versus if you were in an abusive relationship, and you divorced to find safety and relief from such a relationship.

It really all depends, it's very situational. I've seen a mix of it. Some people I've know who got divorced we're relieved about it, but most of those were relationships that had serious problems, which is why they divorced in the first place. In most of the cases were friends of mine were depressed when they got divorced, it was because they were still in love with their ex spouse, or their was drama involving a kid. I guess more people i know we're more relieved then depressed.

When I dovorced I was relieved however my ex husband was very abusive. My sister is currently going through a divorce and she acts as though she is releived but she is acting out at the same time and pushing her only child back to go and party. I think that there is a fair share of both it just depends on the situation at hand because alot of times that people say that they are releived they are really upset about the whole thing but just showing otherwise in front of a crowd.

From the people I know that are divorced it matters the reason why they decided to have a divorce. If they just decided that it wasn't working and called it quits there not that depressed. But, if it was for reasons like one partner was cheating they usually are very depressed, or if the divorce wasn't a mutual decision.

the people I have seen that have divorced seem so more relaxed and happy! They aren't depressed about it, because they were the one's that chose to walk out. Now the other side when they are the ones that got the divorce papers I see them depressed.

Depends on if they initiated it or not...typically the person being divorced isn't a happy camper, however most divorced people I've ever known do fine once it's all over as they know life must go on. âº

Depends if you're referring to divorced men or divorced women as well as how long it has been since the divorce.

More relived..
It is society and lawyers who make it rough and bitter. Most people get over their ex once in another loving relationship.
