For me and my wife (Still married by the way) it was just a case of finding out after the kids were teens that we don't have anything in common anymore. She doesn't enjoy the things that I like to do and I don't care for hers either. She'll go to a baseball game or something like that but only if I ask her and I only aske her because I don't want to entertain her complaints that I never take her anywhere. I know she doesn't enjoy it and that kind of ruins it for me so I just don't do it very often even though I love it. This is just one example but you get the idea.

Relationships are a job in itself and takes time and effort to make it work. Evolution is a way of life for humans, and therefore, we continue to change. It's up to both people to put their fair share into it and not get lazy. This means, keeping your appearance up, constant communication, space, etc. You don't need to have EVERYTHING in common, but try keeping each other in the loop of things that don't appeal to you anymore. Love will justify.
