How does one get the Love of a mom that was here for a short bit and lost the next, All I have now are figments of her love. Instead of Love that should of flourished within me, now I build my hatred my anger, and the ugliness of being human, aka a bad boy persona! Is this caused by not having a mother? Am I doomed, to live with this anger and repressed way of living?

Guys, I come from a broken home with parents that HATE each others gutts. My father was abusive to my mother, almost killed her the day she gave birth to me. But unfortunately, my mother despised me (and still does) taking all of my father's bitterness on me growing up. When I was 17, she starved me for 1 month by locking up all the food in the kitchen and travelling out of town. I keep away from them in order to maintain my sanity. I had a talk with my father-in-law last night and he insists that I fulfil my obligations to my parents by "sending them money" when I can. He says, they have authority over you on this earth and that doing this will grant me "blessings." Please note that I am originally from an ethnic group called the "Yorubas" in western Nigeria. I grew up in England b4 coming to live in the states, and I think this is a BULLSHIT mentallity. I feel my in-laws are being hypocritical bcos if I treated their daughter the same way my parents treat me they wouldn't be...(cont)

We've been together 5+ years. Long story she was away for a year and a half in europe. Came we got back together. Stable relationship we have a 3 year old together. We recently been talking marriage and i want to. When we first met she said she had been with 7 dudes. About 8 months ago she revelead there were really 16 or 18 fellows. I'm tried looking past it but it lingers in my head every now and then. I dont know what to do. Any suggestions. I'm no angel i've been with 6 other females. My husbands ex girlfriend /mother of his other children and his family seem to think that whenever there is something wrong with his ex, he should come running. For example someone stole the radio out of her car and she told his family she knew who it was. When they told my husband and he just shrugged his shoulders they got mad because he wouldn't go beat the guy up. And the same guy she cheted with when they were together, now smacks her around. My husband doesn't care but his family thinks he should. I could see if she were on her deathbed buthe and I feel she is no longer his concern, only the kids. What do you think?

So far I have received some pretty valid answers to my questions on this site. So my questions keep poring in. I will be visiting my family this summer for my parent’s anniversary. I am extremely happy to go and visit all my long last relatives. I am an independent women and the rebel of the family free spirited traveler. I have always been unconventional and eclectic in my lifestyle. I am happy and fulfilled with my chosen life style. My worry is that when I am faced with the more traditional family members I am going to be hounded with questions such as: Why are you still single? When are you getting married? Where is the man in your life? I will also be the 3rd, 5th or 7th wheel you get the idea. How do I politely handle this issue with out offending any of my family members?

My bf and I went on a family vacation last week. All of his family was invited. WeI've been dating for 1 year and 10 months now, and have been entretaining the idea of marriage and talking around the subject for a while. It has been implied that we're going to get married someday and even his father called me "Mrs. P" during the vacation, but still no "official" word from him. His family kinda spilled the beans on his "plans" for us a few times, but still he keeps mum about it.

Finally, after a lot of talking around the subject, he told me that he wanted to "settle" in 3 years and that if I agreed, I said yes, and he said: well, then we have to start planning from now to make it possible.

HMMM.... what is that supposed to mean? I'm sure that it's not a marriage proposal, but rather an advisory? We're both adults (27 and 33) and financillay stable. We do not live together. I'm happy but confused. What do you think?

Wife begins affair with husband's friend while still living at home and then moves into her own apartment. Affair is very serious, lasts almost 6 months. Completely emotional, physical, etc. Wife is ready to leave husband for friend. Then 4 weeks ago, at the 11th hour decides to go back to husband and try to save the marriage. Both seem "sincere" about trying to fix this. She's in counseling, he's in counseling, but they're not in counseling together yet.Tells husband of affair but makes up a fake person that she had affair with. Doesn't want husband to know it's his friend. Family and her friends are willing to go along with cover-up. They're spending lots of time together, but he has stopped talking to his friends and she still talks to the friend twice a week on the phone. I have 2 questions.....
1. Will the marriage survive?
