I know that they are just kidding, but it still makes me feel bad. they said this because I dont use slang and sometimes dont understand the slang that they use. i didnt know what the name of some kind of hair jell was that most black females use. and, i dont know...just the way I speak, in general. i dont know what I should say to them if they ever say that again. i dont want to try to be someone i'm not and try to "act more black" because there's no such thing. i am who i am and I'm proud of that. but it still sort of hurts to be called that.

We have been married 4 years and friendship was the basis more than anything else for our marriage. I was sure I was happily married my first two years apart from the fact that sometimes I felt very lonely with him and he never could talk about things openly and honestly. Emotionally he is not there plus he is quiet patronising towards me. Lately he drives me up the wall with put-downs and sneering. Passion is gone if it was ever there, no sex for 3 years or even kissing. We tried counselling, wthen finally I got a confession out of him, that he did not want kids with me since he was not sure of our relationship. Surprise-surprise! I seem to have a huge difficulty to get over this. I was no angel either as I had an affair with my first love. It was a very bad choice and I learnt a lot. Anyway, these days I feel so sad and can't imagine having babies with him or even being intimate. Of course, I don't want to bring kids into this. Have you been in a similar story? How can I move on?

I live with my boyfriend, and his 7 year old son stays with us every other week. Problem is, he's always seemed to be lacking in manners and it just seems to be getting worse as we get older. We go out to a Mexican restaurant and he screams "these chips are DISGUSTING!" If someone gives him a gift that he doesn't like he'll roll his eyes, make a face, and drop it on the floor. The other day, his father tells him he needs a moment to speak with me, and he walks out of the room saying "I HATE her, she ruins everything!" It's really starting to piss me off. If I'm eating something he wants, he'll grab it or demand it, and if his father tells him no, he screams that I "never share" (not true, I actually buy most of the food for the house). The father tries to coo at him into behaving, but he never listens and is never disciplined. I'm going crazy and just might snap at him myself soon. Help!!

My husband and I have a mobile DJ company. I'm finding more and more that when people call us for a DJ for their wedding, sweet 16, 50th anniversary etc., their only concern is price and not expertise. I also don't understand the need for some people to call or email and let us know that they hired another DJ for real cheap, after of course they went through a thorough consultation with us where I gave them an hour or two of my time not to mention all kinds of great suggestions which they were so thankful for at the time. A good DJ can make your event run smoothly and please all of your guests and that's what you're paying for. With these 'bottom feeders' you're likely getting substandard equipment and a guy who's just looking for beer money. Are there people who have regretted not hiring the DJ they felt was right for them because of the price? We are not sky high mind you. We start at $550 for 4 hours which is very reasonable.
