Marriage and Baptism are not related to each other directly. In some religions, you are baptised as an infant. In others, this happens when you are in your teens. I know there are a couple of religions that require that you be baptised before you are married.

So to ask if "it is true" or not, is not merely a yes or no answer. It depends on what your personal beliefs are and which religion you subscribe to.

In the Methodist church you can be baptized as an infant or as a young teen. Many parents allow their children to make the choice as a young teen and see the baptism in infancy as forcing the religion upon the child. I believe there are other denominations that have similar thinkings or in many times controversies.

I always thought it was the other way around though, since you are promising to live your life as a Christian when you are baptized. It wouldn't make sense to be married in a church if you didn't believe or want to be baptized.

Baptism is usually performed in infancy and is a parental choice. Once you are an adult it is a personal choice and can be performed when ever the person chooses.

This is dependent upon the religious denomination. I was baptized and confirmed as an infant, had the sacrament of marriage as an adult.

If that were true, everyone wanting to get married would be lined up for miles at every river, creek, and lake.
