First of all, we're humans. We make mistakes and lose things. It is difficult to keep track of everything, but there are ways to improve the chance of NOT losing things.

When I was in high school I would always leave things in classrooms. Whether it was my entire backpack, notebook, pencils, etc. So, I developed the habit of doing the double-check. Do I have everything I brought with me? I would always check under the desk before I left.

As an adult, I have to keep track of keys, cellphone, wallet, etc. But this double checking system works well when leaving places. That's when you always lose something, is when you are going somewhere else, right? Do the double check?

But the KEY here is to keep everything in the same place as you always put it. So that way your brain says this belongs here because this is where I always put it. Make sense?

And to complement keeping things in the same place, you should try keeping everything clean and organized. This will definitely help you get on the right track of being able to see where things are.

Go to the container store (or wal-mart), and check out different organizing ideas. A hamper for your clothes, a key-chain holder to put on the wall, pen holder, containers for supplies, dry-erase board for important dates, that kind of stuff. Get creative, get excited. :)

Good luck, and don't lose it. - - pun intended! :)

i used to lose things constantly. it nearly drove me crazy. i honestly thought i was losing my mind. in my case, i figured out, it was b/c i had so much going on and so many things in my head.i was taking care of everything for everyone and i was always in a rush.i had a real problem saying no. it made me so flighty, i couldn't remember if i'd eaten or showered. i couldn't find my keys, my purse or anything else of importance.once i stopped and thought about it, it made sense. i quit worrying about others, except when it was necessary, and i took a step back from some activities. a also became a list writer. not that i follow it exactly all the time, but the act of writing helps me to be less scatterbrained.
i don't know if this is what you were looking for but, it's how i stopped losing things.
