i'm comtemplating to shut it down or make my laptop hibernate. this is a 'for good' decision so if i think hibernate is better i'll just permanently hibernate it. any cons about hibernate?

I've just done a spring clean inside my PC which was clogged with dust.

As part of the process, I removed the CPU from its socket to brush the dust off, I replaced the CPU and everything else afterwards. However upon restarting the computer, my AMD Athlon 3000+ which normally runs at 2.10gHz is running at 1.75gHz. Both the boot up process and the system properties shows the CPU running slower then normal. Apart from the wrong speed the system works fine.

I did not use an anti static strap but about 95% of the time, I kept my bare arm or elbow grounded onto the metal case.

Any ideas?

Some examples of what I'm looking for are:

smartdisk videosafe - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300086947498&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020

adaptec videoh! - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170087790177&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007

but they don't appear to work on vista and I don't want to buy one only 2 get this confirmed! There is no s-video port on the camcorder although I do have one on the PC.

Thanks!
