I have a gateway GT4016 desktop which I mostly use for games and other stuff. The computer currently has an AMD 64 Athelon 939 socket processor on a BTX motherboard (factory board), I was wondering if a 939 Dual Core AMD will work with this board. The computer has an upgraded power supply, extra RAM and an ATI video card. The current OS is Windows EX Media Center Edition. If the swap can be made what if any other changes must be made to the computer? Thanks.

I have read other responses about temperatures on the Pentium D, but I would prefer getting answers to my specific questions to my system, so here goes:

I recently built a new system including a Pentium D 820 on an nForce 570 motherboard, with a CoolerMaster CPU fan (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131032 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103001 ). They are all in a Raidmax Smilidon case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156062 ) with 5 fans (4x80mm + 1x120mm).

However, I am becoming worried about the temp readings. While idling, it will drop down to around 45C, but when I get both cores running at 100%, it jumps up to a max of 56C. As soon as I lessen the load, though, it drops straight back down. Now, I realize that the Artic Silver 5 thermalpaste I used hasn't fully cured ("baked"), but should I be worried about these temps? What should I do?

Okay, so basically I was mowing... that's all you need to know <_<
My dad says he can fix it. But he hasn't yet, and I was wondering if this is something that I would be able to repair without any special tools or anything, maybe a tutorial or something...

I've since changed my hard drive. But I have a toshiba 40 Gig drive in plastic wrap, that I would like to repair and turn it into an 2.5" external drive.

So how can repair the bad sector on the drive?
Would I have to take it to a computer shop?

Thanks for your time.

My computer reads audio cds and cds with information already on them (such as burned music cds, data cds, etc), but won't read a blank cd. If I insert a blank cd into the cd-rom drive, the computer indicates that is detecting it, but then it never allows me to open the cd (D:\) drive. When I double click on my D:\ drive in My Computer, it says, please insert a disk into drive D:. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Hello everyone. Updates on Dell computers.

Most people, especially those who don't have good credit, or don't even have credit, complain about Dell products. Note that you MUST have good credit to purchase Dell products.

My Dell battery has died after 3 years of use. Imagine that, 3 years! Enough said. Great job.

Have you ever heard of keyboard silence? Well, Dell is the only computer maker to discover Keyboard silence. The Dell XPS system comes with an unique keyboard, allowing users to type without the disturbance of keyboard noise. Best ever!

Media direct: This feature allows you to play DVD and Music without booting up windows! Save lots of battery power.
The Dell XPS allows up to 8 hours of battery life!!! Yes, 2 duo processors and up to 2.30ghz

Those who rather not to be Dell customers are missing a lot in today's newest technology. Sony, HP, Panasonic, Toshiba, Comaq, Acer, Mac, Voodoo, etc, don't have the features Dell has.

I need to format some old hard drives with important work information on them before I sell them on eBay. It needs to be a 35 pass erase so all the data is gone, but I don't have the time. Is there a store such as CompUSA where I can take them to be securely erased? I don't mind paying, I just don't have the time to do it myself. Any suggestions?

When I plug it in it is detected but says that the "device is not working properly" and then when I see it in the Device Manager it says "Unknown Device".
It also says in the Device Status in the Properties box
"No drivers are installed for this device. "
I tried updating the driver from the option when you right-click on it but it says no device drivers could be found other than the one already there.
Oh, and I tried the troubleshooter for USB.

I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional,
and the USB flash drive is Sony (256 Megabytes storage).
I've used it before and it was working, but I don't know what's the problem now. Thank you for any help.

I have a Logitech Computer Headset Micophone. Before I go and buy a new one, I want to ask Yahoo if they know how to fix my mic's problem. The headphone speakers still work. I can hear incoming sound....but my Microphone isn't picking up any sound at all. The only way my voice goes through is when I yell at the top of my lungs...but even then, my voice comes out faint. Believe me, I recorded myself on Audacity and Skype Test Call. This is reallllly bugging me. I havent been able to call any of my online friends. Anyone have any answers to my problem???

Please.
