Anyone know what if any CPU(s) can replace a 700mhz Celeron in a Compaq Presario 5000 series?

It looks like you can replace it with either another Celeron processor up to 1400mhz or a Pentium III also up to 1400mhz. Any processor in that will fit the 370 socket will fit in your computer. I would check documentation or Compaq's website for more technical requriements, such as voltages, and bus speeds. If you replace the processor, you may have to re-install your operating system and any programs if it is different from your old one.

go 2 compaq web site and look for support type in your model number, and download the manual. it will tell you, I think it will take the 1 gig processor it is an old system
