When I try to defragment my hard disk, I get a message 'defragmentation could not start'. Using Windows 2000. Have done disk cleanup and have lots of space free. Anyone have any ideas to help me here?

well i am taking a computer archtecture cours and we are studing MIPS process but i just cant imagain where is this process in the computer , what is the process it it like the computer cpu , what does it just execute instructions .... another (stupid) question let say i want to run a game , will the process see its code and execute line by line

ok, so i found 2 cable from the usb port like this:

and then i found a usb header on my motherboard like this:

is that the correct way to connect the cables to the header??
because i saw that the header on the mobo only has 9 pins...while the usb cables (2of them ) has a total of 10 pins... plz help >.<

on second computer i have had it has 2 gigs installed and working just fine. on the comp im having trouble with i tried re seating the ram and still only showing up and 448 mb well in the bios it sees it as the full 512 mb so someone help me here

I have an ati x1800xt 512mb video card and a 3.0 p4 cpu. I play games like Lock on and Armed Assault and I notice that my frames per second drop to the teens when shadows are enabled. Is my graphix card the problem or is my cpu not powerful enough?

I'm t hinking about buyign an E6600 Core 2 duo but will that take care of the shadow problem?

I have Labtec speakers and they are not working. I know that the speakers are not the problem as i had tried 2 other sets and they are also not working. I know that the leads are plugged in the right places, therefie it is the computer that has the problem. They have been fine for the last year up until now,

When switched on the black screen is asking to introduce a bootable device and press any key. When the CD ROM (with Windows XP) provided by manifacturer is introduced nothing happens.
However, when I leave the CD ROM in and restart my PC it is able to recognize it and start trying to reboot. Yet when finished the following message appears:
"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow this steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer."

My 2nd PC encountered a Power Supply problem, I replaced the PSU but the PC does not respond. The led in front of the PC blinks but nothing else on the units seems to react. the fan on the CPU also is the only other thing running. Drive does not run, nothing comes on the moniter.

Can somebody help trouble shoot this, did by mbo and or chip get fried when my PSU failed.

I brought a HP laptop dv9220, I uninstall Windows Vista because my software was not compatible with Vista. I install Windows XP Pro and was able to find most of the drivers. I still have a question mark by the Other devices,Monitor device, and PCI device, SM Bus Controller and by USB device is not working. Please if someone can help I will be so thankful.

Hi I've just bought a new motherboard with a brand new 7.1 sound card.

I'm having problems with my keyboard for my personal computer. It was working fine just a week ago and then all of a sudden some of the letters and symbol keys as well as my space bar stopped working. I tried to restart the computer and it still continued to give me problems. Are my settings wrong? could this be a possible virus on my pc? or do I just need to get a new keyboard? please help me out.
