You may have a failing hard drive if...
* System frequently pauses for 5-10 seconds or more as you try to read files from the hard drive, open programs, etc.
* Hear a repetitive "clunk clunk clunk" or "clickclick" sound coming from the hard drive.
* Frequent messages in Windows about hard drive read or write errors.
* Error when you boot up saying hard drive is near failure.
* Smoke followed by BSOD.

Strange sounds like clicks, chattering, etc., odd odours, slooow access speeds, odd error messages, the list goes on and on.
Run Disk Cleanup and Defrag. If you see any strange error messages from either, your hard drive may be on it's last legs!
Back up all your personal data and replace the drive.

2.delay in accessing files and folders
3.present of too much clusters or bad sectors at disk checkup scan
4.frequent crash and blue screen and warning messeges
