*IF* you see any Yellow & Black ! point or Red X REMOVEE them

Shutdown your computer, NOT RESTART

Wait at least 2 minutes then restart computer

Windows SHOULD find and REinstall the drivers

Note: Even IF you don't see the above mentioned ! or X, just remove the sound card drivers anyway, then do the Shutdown procedure

There're a few possible situations:

- your speakers could be muted
- the power slot for the electrical plug of your speakers could be having some issues. Test it with some other electric device and see if it works.
- Check if any of the controls on your sound volume are muted.
- your sound card drivers could be corrupted
- your sound card itself could have some problems: that is, it no longer works or the slots for plugging in your speakers are spoilt.
- there could be some software like spyware, etc., which is interfering with your drivers or causing your sound controls to be totally out of whack. Try uninstalling any software you've made within the last 24 hours or before you last had this problem of "having no sound".
- If there are some electronic devices like handphone, etc. near your speakers, try moving them away. Though this is quite rare, some electronic devices do interfere with certain speaker models.

mrresearchman's answer is correct however first i would check that the sound is not muted in the sound properties.

Right click the small speaker icon next to the clock at the bottom of the screen and choose to open the volume controls. Make sure that all the sound volumes are turned up and that there are no check marks in any of the mute options. If all is well here refer back to mrresearchman's answer.

Sounds like you have the speakers muted. double click on the speaker in the lower right side, by the clock. make sure none of them are check.
If there is a check undo it and you should be ok.
If it is not that then you need to right click 'my computer', goto properties, click hardware tab, click on 'device manager', find your sound card and uninstall it. restart your computer and let it find and reinstall the drivers.
Hope that works for you.

Any chance you put your computer on mute? Or even turned the volume all the way down?

I think your terminals need cleaning up.
