Ok ..something happen to my sony pc and i CANT get back into windows.it all started..I felt my pc was lagging so i opened task manager and closed everything going down...then a little window poped up saying that my computer was shutting down in about 15 secs i think(i have gotten this before and nothing happen) so finally when it was getting ready to shut down another window read windows is shutting down..saving settings.it looked frozen..i mean how many savings does it have to save?.so i held the power button until the pc shut down ( i guess i forced it to shut down while it was saving).when i turned it back on..HELL started...i got a black screen with the text "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file"...i got my cousin to try and fix it..he somehow got that file fixed..but then when we restarted pc..it said another file is corrupt..and it kept going w/ corrupt files!HELP

The Q-Fan function automatically detects temperature and adjusts fan speed accordingly to achieve quiet and efficient cooling. Looking for a case (ie fans) that support this.

So I compressed files on my computer to open up hard drive space and afterwards all my internet favorites were gone aside from the ones I had used in the past few days. I tried restoring the system, but that didn't help.

Also, I'm working on a Windows XP and the other user accounts didn't get their favorites deleted...only mine. Is there any other way, aside from restoring that could get my favorites back?

Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you so much :]

i just bought a new motherboard to support my video card, and a stick of ddr ram, but when i start up my computer, it takes about 15 trys to boot. My guess is the power supply, ill try booting up my computer and i get nothing on the monitor, but after 15 tries, the monitor and cpu boots up. is it the power supply? My motherboard manual doesnt state the minimum power supply power. I have 480w powers supply to meet the needs of my video card (minimum 300w). My guess is that theres to much watts on the 480w power supply for the motherboard i have. But why would my cpu boot though?

I have a gateway computer, and I bought another gateway computer that has not arrived yet. I want to put the modem card from my old computer into the new one (if it will fit). The seller tells me that the computer I purchased takes a low profile card...how do I know if I have that one or another kind?

I did some research and people are getting 4.5 and higher on the model before mine which is the x1300 256MB.

Why is my card which is 512MB and overclocked at 600mhz only getting a 3.9 on the vista score?

its a pci express card.

everything else is over 4.5

thanks guys!!

Hi,

I don't know what is going on. I used to be able to plug in a USB drive or other USB device and windows would recognize and install it automatically. Now it doesn't anymore, with any USB device. The wizard comes up but asks me if I want it to connect to windows update to search for software and after it can't find anything it finishes and leaves me unable to use the new hardware. Why isn't it installing it automatically anymore? What is the problem?

Thanks for your help,

Ryan

I just installed a brand new socket 478 3 GHz 800Mhz FSB CPU in my computer and I'm having problems. When I turn the computer on, all the hardware kicks on but the monitor stays off and I don't get a beep or POST results. Everything is plugged in and the heatsink is situated nicely over the CPU and the CPU is in correctly. I installed a new video card but it did this with the old one too. Any tips?

Is 10+ ghz even theoretically possible with a freezing cooler? I would think that there would be a much lower threshold because of other limiting factors if heat was removed from the equation, but my friend insists it is possible to reach 12ghz with a current, commercially available CPU.
