I was doing some research the other day. The Amiga is alive and well, but the new OS is aimed at OEM applications, not for home install on a pre-built PC.

I'm assuming you are talking about the classic Amiga. You can try using an Amiga emulator. http://www.winuae.net/. Good luck finding Kickstart Roms, Workbench and games, they are still copyrighted. >:)

There is also a commercial package (I haven't seen it), www.amigaforever.com. It actually uses parts of freeware emulators like WinUAE, but the thing is is that the Amiga OS is legal.

The old, classic Amiga used a 68000 processor. And lots and lots of custom hardware. The Amiga hardware is even impressive by today standards, some features remain unused in today's PC's and game systems like overscan, copper (it made possible multiple resolutions), variable sized animated icons, and (best for last) The Video Toaster. :)

I would think the actual OS is too old to be compatible with modern PC's. I do believe it is possible to emulate the AmigaOS through emulation software but it would really depend on the code of the OS itself
