cant get my webcam2 work do i need2 disable my windows xp firewall?

Question

i put my disk in2 load the program4 my webcam and when i try2 use it it says no hard ware found could u tell me why that may be do i need2 disable my firewall the webcam worked on my pc before when i had windows2000 ive upgraded2 windowsxp and now i have problems

Firewall really shouldn't interfere. I use mine all the time. Follow the instructions carefully for cams.... You need to install the software without the cam plugged in - it will then tell you to plug it in. It should be compatable with XP - but some things aren't - so check your specs.. You also might try going out to the Cam manufacturer's site - because they may have new drivers that work better. Usually I don't use the software from the CD - the site has newer stuff.
