I need to use COM port 3, because I want to use CASIO's PC-UNITE software to download data to my infra-red enabled CASIO watch. This software keeps reverting to COM 3 after the first transfer, which is limiting.

I had my new (shining) computer for a week now, and upon playing a game, my cursor simply stop responding. It's a new mouse, so I assumed (even though if I assume, I make an *** out of u) that everything would work properly. After replugging the mouse, trying another mouse, it was to no avail. Everything else works except the standard mouse. What is the deal?

I use DVD SHRINK to rip my dvd's to my computer and they play fine on my computer, but when I burn them to a dvd using NERO, they will hang up, have drop outs and skips. I do not know if my SONY dvd writer is at fault or if my blank dvds (TDK) are the problem. Any suggestions????

Yesterday morning I was able to work on my laptop in wireless mode, the router upstairs connected to my Motorola Surfboard modem. I went out for a few hours, and came back to find I could no longer make a connection to the Internet. (I have it set to 64-bit, WEP, etc.) The laptop showed the wireless network in its list, but, nothing happens when I try to repair the connection - it stalls in the "Acquiring IP" step. Even with hardwiring my laptop into the router I couldn't make a connection. To make sure it wasn't my cable service, I connected my laptop direct to the modem, which worked like a charm.

Should I reset the router, and do I need to be hardwired to the router to do so? I want to avoid spending $50 on a new router. BTW, I tried direct-connecting another desktop unit into the router, with no luck there.

I read this in Winipedia:

"FireWire 400 can transfer data between devices at 100, 200, or 400 Mbit/s data rates (actually 98.304, 196.608, or 393.216 Mbit/s, but commonly referred to as S100, S200, and S400). Although USB2 claims to be capable of higher speeds (480Mbit/s), FireWire is, in practice, faster due to its "peer-to-peer" architecture which gives a more reliable and sustained throughput rate".

What determines which rate (100, 200, or 400 Mbit/s) the Firewire 400 will transfer at?

I have windows XP, so it should be compitable.
First problem was I need Flash 2.0 drive, so I got that.
I plug my MP3 player into it, and when go to the software program, it says that my MP3 player is not plugged in.
On the box, it says I need Windows Service Pack 1, which I don't have. Could that have affected it?
