Fortunately there are not many things to try here.

First, open the Control Panel (usually Start-Settings or just under Start). Then click on Sounds and Audio Devices (possibly have to click on two icons with the same name to get what you really need). In there, make sure the volume is not all the way down (all the way up is best - use the knobs on the speakers [if they exist] to adjust volume), and that the mute box is not checked. If that is fine, click on the Audio tab. Make sure is says something like "Realtek AC97 Audio". If it does not, drop the box down and select it. If it is not there, then you have a driver/software problem and the sound drivers need to be re-installed.

The other method is to find the speaker icon on the lower-right corner of your screen (next to the clock) and double-click it. Make sure everything but the microphone (unless you use that too) is set to max and mute is not checked.

Good luck.

hello, you need to tell us what Operating System (windows 2000/XP/98/Linux etc). Also tell us what sort of motherboard you are using (if you know). Check to see if the volume has been set correctly in Windows and if you have headphones plug them in and see if you get any sound in emm..

make sure that they have power and they are plugged into the correct outlet on your PC. Other then that make sure that they are turned on and what you are trying to listen to actually has sound. Other then that get someone to look at your computer.
