When you dispose of a computer, privacy is an issue. The NMR imagers in hospitals produce a field of up to 10 teslas. Is that enough to wipe your hard drive? The hard drive is protected by a magnetic shielding material, remember. Here in NZ hospitals are short of cash. If it works, this service would provide a useful source of income for them.

I begining to start building my first computer and I'm not sure what size power supply to use. It will be used for everything from homework to gaming. RIght now Im kind of planning on the following components:

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DQ6 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz
Update Crucial Technology 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM
320 GB Seagate SATA HD (maybe 2)
BIOSTAR GeForce 7600GS 512MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card

Will 500W be enough? What about if I add more cooling and overclock?

find out what type of sound card I have in a old Packard Bell that has Windows 3.1. The CD ROM won't work so I need to be able to load some sort of software on a floppy. I done everything to find out what it is, FCC ID, P.Bells site (worthless). I'm trying to fix it for a lady that can't afford to pay anything. I need the jumper info for the card. Thanks in advance.

Went for a potty break and when I came back, my computer was froze with an auto shut down message saying there was a problem with file i740dnt5 and that the device driver was stuck in an infinite loop. I turned everything off and let it sit and then fired it back up, and now everything seems to be fine...for now...is there still a problem and how do I fix it? Please be gentle with me--I do not speak "computer-ese" well so the simplest explanation would be best. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me! :)
