If you use an older version of Windows, some things just don't work right anymore, because programmers understandably will limit the downward compatibility of the software they write today to that which is easily achieved. That is, if it runs on 98, it is probably because those particular codes were not needed for a function that was not possible under 98, and the longer you go on, the more things won't work right. I was running 98 for a long time, and only recently upgraded. There toward the end of it, I was not able to use the bar of drop-down menus that appears at the bottom of every question, and so was not able to add time to answer or put a question to a vote or report abuse. Those same sorts of limits will crop up all over the place until you upgrade.
Face it, software becomes obsolete quickly.

Standby is a state wherein your video show and complicated disks turn off, so as that your pc makes use of much less capability. once you desire to apply the pc lower back, it comes out of standby rapidly, and your laptop is restored precisely as you left it. Use standby to keep capability once you would be far flung from the pc for a quick time at an analogous time as working. with the aid of fact Standby does not keep your laptop state to disk, a capability failure at an analogous time as on Standby would reason you to lose unsaved guidance.

It's called an "Operating System" for a reason. It organises, runs and bridges all the information and files necessary to run your computer and software there on.

You need Windows because without it your computer will NOT understand anything that you ask it to do. It is like 'the brain' of the computer. Without the brain the computer will not operate.
Windows also contains the operating system.
I hope this will help.
Please let me know if it helps.
Thanks

It is the operating system. It communicates between the hardware devices and all the software you run. Otherwise you'd need to write programs exactly for one hardware only.
