Here is another one of my NEW XP problems/Issues. When I play Windows Media Player, I dont get any sound, video is fine. Whether it is an .mpg .avi or .wav file, It doesnt matter, No Sound. But if I start Power DVD (even without starting to play any movie) I get the sound in WMP. I thought it would be a codec prob. so I installed "all in one Audio codec" no help. I unstalled and then updated WMP to ver 10, nothin doin. I stil can bet it has something to do with Audio codec, but I cant figure out what to do or where else to look. One more thing as long as Power DVD is on, I have the sound in WMP, as soon as I close Power DVD, sound goes with it. Any suggestions, help, recommendations?? BTW Sound Always works in Power DVD no matter what.

I have 2 HDD's, a Western Digital 150gb Raptor, and a Western Digital 500gb Caviar - both SATA. The Raptor is set as my primary and works fine. The Caviar does not appear when I open up 'My Computer.' When I go into the Device Manager though, both drives show they are there. Also, when I open up the BIOS, both drives appear. Simply put, all I have is my C: drive and my DVD drive.

I've checked the connections, and they seem fine. I've even tried changing where on the mother board where the Caviar plugs into.

And I'm assuming this has something to do with it - but in my system tray, since I've built this PC, I've always had the icon showing "Safely Remove Hardware," referring to both HDD's. Why would it be doing this to something as permanent as a hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's a dual core. It would play a game that requires a little bit over without overclocking right?

My teacher and some other students were calling the computer, or the "tower" a hard drive. Once they decided to call it a "hard drive protector" Its not a hard drive protector, or a HARD DRIVE. its just the COMPUTER, cause its also got the CD ROM drive, the sound card, the graphics card, the processor and all that other stuff, I might be wroung, but i don't think so, Am I??

I am trying to copy some old family recordings over to CD before the audio tapes go bad, and to make them easier to share with family members.

Based on some instructions I saw in an article I purchased a Y cable and downloaded some free software called Audacity. There are three unmarked ports on the back of the PC that will accept the cable end, but I can't seem to get the recording/transfer to work.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. If there are other ways to accomplish this please advise.

Thanks

Every time I turn my computer on, it either freezes before loading Windows, or it loads Windows and restarts right away. When it restarts I get a blue screen that says a problem was detected and Windows was shut off to prevent damages in the computer, then it says "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". It tells me to deactivate the BIOS memory options - what the hell is that and how do I do it? Still in the blue screen it says "Technical Information: ***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xD7536008, 0x00000000, 0x80576FDF, 0x00000000)"
What should I do? Please help, it's really annoying that this happens every damn time, sometimes it takes a loooong time before I can actually turn the computer on.
