My C drive has 12% memory left but my D Drive has 97%. As a result my computer is running slow and cant defrag it (it needs 15% free). Please help as I'm seriously thick when it comes to computers! (so that means words of no more than two syllables!)

Given your admission that "I'm seriously thick when it comes to computers!" this is not something that can be undertaken by someone with out some technical skills. It requires moving of the swap file, deleting temp files, relocating the temp directory, or even uninstalling and reinstalling applications. I recommend you take it to CompUSA or Best Buy and have this done, if you don't have a techie friend that can help you out.

uninstall some of the stuff from your c: drive and reinstall on d: drive...

Also

Create a folder in d: drive
d:\temp

Goto

Internet Explorer
Tools->Internet Options->General->Temporary Internet Files->Settings->Move Folder

Then select d:\temp

This will store all internet temporary files on d:\temp

After above step...

Restart your computer

after above step...

Goto

C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Delete all files under above folder....

copy some of your files that are not programs or program related to the d: to free space on the c: . You can move documents, and pictures, and music and videos to the d: and it should free up enough space for you.

about defragmentation: u can defrag ur disc even if it says that u should have 15%, it is just a warning, that it would be better..., if this is not an answere, u can download a program from : download.com named: partition magic, and make a bigger c: partition ( for xp u should use 20G)

You could go ino program files and drop it over, but I wouldn't advise it, just try to find something else to move.
