I have 2 HDD's, a Western Digital 150gb Raptor, and a Western Digital 500gb Caviar - both SATA. The Raptor is set as my primary and works fine. The Caviar does not appear when I open up 'My Computer.' When I go into the Device Manager though, both drives show they are there. Also, when I open up the BIOS, both drives appear. Simply put, all I have is my C: drive and my DVD drive.

I've checked the connections, and they seem fine. I've even tried changing where on the mother board where the Caviar plugs into.

And I'm assuming this has something to do with it - but in my system tray, since I've built this PC, I've always had the icon showing "Safely Remove Hardware," referring to both HDD's. Why would it be doing this to something as permanent as a hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My first guess is that your disk is not partitioned.

Go to Start->Control Panel->(classic view)->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management and create a new partition on the 2nd disk.

Has the Caviar been formatted? Even though the bios recognizes the drive, Windows won't until it's been formatted.

Is the caviar drive jumpered either as slave or cable select? (Other alternative would be if it is on its own IDE cable (i.e. secondary master))
